Audya screen flickering

Audya screen flickering - 09/15/11 11:13 AM

Hello!
I know it is an old issue but I would be glad to know how many Audya owners experience screen flickering.
In my Audya it looks like screen refreshing or something like that, no extra side effects, but I still have strange feeling about that.
It would be interesting to know about users without that problem, too.
Thanks,
Regards,
Luka

Luka, I think they all do that, including mine.

Don't know what causes it?

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/15/11 12:28 PM

mine too

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/15/11 12:32 PM

mine flickers too...

maybe AJ's update will fix this?

i wonder if there are ANY Audya's that don't ever flicker, basically screen goes blank for a second, then back to normal...

AJ, any thoughts on this?

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/15/11 12:38 PM

Mine does as well. It seems to get worse the more load u put on it. The more that is going on the more it blinks. Audya is a great machine but the hardware and cpu is ancient and that is contributing to almost all the problems.

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/15/11 01:07 PM

can the hardware be upgraded?

i'd be willing to pay a bit to have it speedy, more memory, no flicker...etc

maybe AJ's AJAMSONIC chip/mem. update will fix these issues?

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/15/11 10:13 PM

He Guys,

Don't forget me, my Audya flickers too!

I don't want to be left out, I don't want mine fixed, I love it flicking, if it didn't flicker I would think some was wrong.

Anyway if it stops flickering something else might go wrong!

Just leave it and be thankful it does flicker its part of the Ketron Audya fun pack, if it stops flickering it will probably be dead!

Thank you all for your posts!
It looks then this is a common issue, fortunatelly without serious performance impact (except annoyance smile )

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/16/11 07:39 AM

Hi Guys,

Iīm sorry, but no "flickering" at all with my Audya 5 so far. Sometimes a bit "slow reaction" when pressing a button, but definetely no flickering !

BTW: A 80 MHz CPU isnīt hat fast at all wink

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/16/11 12:47 PM

Snoopy, no flickering?
you look at screen alot?

that's weird cuz i have AUDYA4, which i think would have the same brain as the AUDYA5

we have to find out what's different in Snoopy's A5

Hi,

I bought it in October 2010 in Germany.

HD-Type is a

Seagate LD 25.2, Typ : ST980210A, FW: 3.ALC, Date : 09045

Maybe it does not flicker because I bought it in the south of Germany, 250 kms from the Italian boarder ( Iīm living more than 1.000 kms away form that boarder ) laugh

I didnīt see a flicker either when I tried it via my PC-monitor wink

@Leezone : You forgot as a possible reason my age laugh. But Iīm 45 and I can see the flickering of flourescent lamps ( im Germany we have 50 Hertz frequency instead of 60 in the US ).
So my eys are still good, even though I need glasses meanwhile wink

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/17/11 07:11 AM

maybe US models flicker and European don't

how about we ALL list our names
where we are from
AUDYA model,
and if it flickers?

leezone
New Jersey, USA
AUDYA 4
YES it flickers...

next person please

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/17/11 07:25 AM

Snoopy ( Holger )

Northern Germany

Auday 5

NO, it doesnīt flicker

BTW: Maybe it flickers due to the fact that US Power-supply frequency is 60 Hertz ( afaik 110 Volts ? ).
In most European countrys itīs 50 Hertz ( 230 Volts ).

If we play videos in NTSC-version ( 29,97 frames per second ) they sometimes flicker on screen, the PAL-versions ( 25 fps ) donīt.

Tony

would you buy a new car,
have your headlights flicker,
and not complain about it?

i think it is a big deal, that should be addressed...

Audya5
Dallas, TX
I think it does a bit

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/20/11 03:15 AM

leezone,

If I bought a car and lights flickered yes I would take it back and they would fix it, the Audya screen flicker as nothing to do with country voltages, its software and car lights are not controlled by sotware and Ketron donīt make cars.

You will all just have to live with flicker, if you ainīt got flicker then your luck, if you have got flicker at least you didnīt pay extra for it so its a bonus, keep on flickering Leezone, if you donīt want flicker and you got flicker sell the board.

Happy Days

Tony

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/20/11 07:41 AM

Tony

you say it's software?
we all have same software on our AUDYAS
so why we have different behaviors?

i think it's hardware

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/20/11 08:18 AM

Guess I might as well report also...
No flicker in mine in NW Indiana USA, even had a computer monitor hooked to it for awhile... no flicker.
Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/21/11 10:57 AM

Leezone,

I think its software because its processor and software driving the screen if there is lots going on the screen
will flicker, mine doesnīt do it all time just now and again sometime you will miss it doing it, I will bet the is certqain times when it does it, but we canīt spot what it is, it may be in a certain menu, with a certain style loaded, I still donīt think it is voltage. We will need to live with it, it was hardware and the kb had to go back the Ketron it would break them.

Ahhhh, but Tony, how can your Audya screen flicker "now and then" ?
After you got T4 added to your collection, I guess it's hardly powered on as much that any flickering is possible at all... laugh laugh laugh

Jonny,

I put the Audya under the T4 so I canīt see the Audya screen flickering, so it may be flickering all the time know and I wouldnīt know.

Cheers Jonny

Tony

i have figured out how to make the flickering go away and stop forever
simple, just turn off the AUDYA, and keep it off

Second solution :

Use an opaque board or paper, cut it that way that it fitīs in the Audyas display and drop it there.

So your Audya is ON, and you can PLAY and thereīll be no flickering laugh

Re: Audya screen flickering - 09/23/11 01:07 PM

Snoopy...genius

another solution:

stare straight into a strobe light for about 5 minutes before your gig
then turn on your AUDYA & just play as usual,
you won't realize where the flicker is coming from
