BIG problem AFTER Pen Update

BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 08/31/11 10:34 PM

just got back from band practice (for wedding gig this weekend)

my Bass now stops all of a sudden while style is playing
yes, the bass guitar just stops playing, any style at random

in order to make bass start up again, i have to move the bass slider up or down slightly

this NEVER happened prior to update, for over a year now gigging with it.

it started happening right after Pen Update

Why Is this bass all of a sudden cutting out?

anyone experience this? any suggestions?

i know this is not a hardware/slider problem for sure,

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/01/11 05:44 AM

AJ has suggested I reinstall the OS only, quick 3 minute process
even thought this was the first step in the Pen update

maybe AJ knows something we don't ?

I can't be having my bass player going to sleep on every song for my 6 hr gig

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/01/11 05:47 AM

Someone else here had problems with Bass stopping.
If this persists after reinstall of OS
I have to "upgrade" back to 4.1b. If that's allowed after having Pen already Installed

Don

i also have Audya4 smile

i'd suggest install normally as i did,
then test the crap out of it, style to style, fills, hold on, off, breaks, etc

IF you get bass dropouts, please let AJ know

AJ has asked me to download and install OS from Ketron Site,
just in case my Pen was corrupt or incomplete,

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/01/11 10:18 AM

Hi Leezone,

maybe something is wrong with you harddisk filesystem.

Did you try a "scandisk" from Windows ?

As a first solution I would also try to reinstall the operatingsystem.

Ooh, just one idea :

Press "Style Mode" and have a look at the display. Is "PRESET MIX" set to "ON" ? If yes, try "OFF".

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/04/11 11:17 AM

So I reinstalled OS this time from Ketron.it

I had a wedding gig in Maryland 4 hrs away from Home NJ

it was a NIGHTMARE

Every 2nd or 3rd measure, bam, NO Bass guitar
more than in practice days before

so imagine yourself on stage and every 5 seconds moving the
bass slider while playing every song
and this wedding was not your typical 4 hr event
it went 8 hrs NO joke

I MUST fix this ASAP before next weeks wedding in CT
AJ is great as he is looking into this

it should be Ketron helping me
but my email I sent them 4 days ago
Is still unanswered

The only positive thing was that
the Audya sounded phenominal
when the bass worked of course.

I will have to downgrade OS and see

Lee,

Not sure about the status of the OS file in your USB stick but I sent you a clean AUDYA 4 OS.

Please get back to me when completed.

Thanks

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/05/11 08:09 PM

Also check your unit once more when you get back from gig. I have a strong feeling POWER ISSUES at the gigg is the cause of this drop-out you are experiencing.

Keep me posted when you get a chance.

Thanks,

AJ

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/06/11 05:33 AM

Low power? I don't know
and why bass and not drum or guitar?
It never happened a whole year on OS 4.1b at practice
now with 4.2b at practice no bass?
And at first gig? No bass

I tried last night where we practice and I have bass
so not sure it's power.

And if it is power. Should I carry a generator around with me to
all my gigs?

I just want to figure this out before this weekend

thanks AJ for your efforts

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/06/11 07:16 PM

so i'm home messing with AUDYA4
CONSTANT dropouts,

not a power issue, as i have plugged my Audya to this same outlet for over a year now.

something is up with this OS for sure

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/06/11 08:56 PM

UPDATE...

i have FINALLY figured out what's up with my Bass Guitar Dropouts
i want to APOLOGIZE for thinking or blaming the AUDYA 4's new 4.2b OS

it was not the OS
it was not a power issue
it was not an AUDYA4 hardware (bass slider) issue
it was something quite simple and non-AUDYA related

what was causing my Bass Guitar Dropouts was my Controller, my AKAI MPK61

specifically, it was my second slider which i had long ago assigned to control my Bass Volume
this slider was somehow stuck, constantly sending out Midi Channel 5, Controller 07, Data/Vol 00,
so it was dirty i assume, or stuck sending this Volume Off to my bass,
all i had to do was move the slider on my CONTROLLER a few times up and down, and all is good now

again, sorry if i scared anyone away from updating or gave the AUDYA some "negative" criticism
and sorry AJ if you wasted your time looking into this.

i'm just happy that i can go into this weekends wedding gig knowing that my bass player will show up :-)

Hey Lee

That sounds like most of my issues, user error. I commend you for your forthright admission of something we have all done.

So glad you are back on track.

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/07/11 05:18 AM

Yes Bernie
it was my fault
I should have realized there was another piece to this puzzle
it was just very frustrating being at that gig with this constant battle
and since this started after OS update I ASSUMED that the OS was the cause

I had a good nights sleep. smile

Re: BIG problem AFTER Pen Update - 09/07/11 08:54 AM

I can only imagine how you felt. The pressure of being under the gun with a working board is one thing, but that on top of everything is pretty tough to smile through.

Today is a new day.
