Thanks for the post. I believe "minimalist" is far fetched for a description of the present piece of crap that comes with the Audya. I hope there is some interest.

the reference to minimalism is British Humour. and the dictionary defintition just sounds like the current music rest to me (which was likely designed by Piet Mondrian )

"Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design, especially visual art and music, where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features."

The proposed music rest does look much better thats for sure.

I think the music rest situation relates to just about all arrangers. I know the Yamahas and Rolands are both fairly flimsy.
I don't use them anyway, and I expect a lot of people don't. I do like the design of the one shown though.

The one on the Roland G70 is what I call a classy rest. I was going to drill out the plastic inserts on the Audya to accomodate the G70 stand but the G70 bracket is on an angle. Otherwise it the same same spacing.

the one that came with the yamaha s-series were biggest piece of crap ever. The SD5 music rest is not the best a lot better than yamaha's.
