Pedal Polarity on Audya - 05/15/09 11:53 AM

Hi.

Is it possible to change the polarity of the sustain pedal. As of now the sustain is on when the pedal is not pressed and cuts of once pressed.

thanks

i don't know bout AUDYA if it has or not...

i mean you want a $5,000 keyboard to be able to do that?

many pedals have a polarity switch, check yours out,
if not you may have to buy a different pedal with opposite polarity

Look into the settings and see if it can be done electronicly via the OS.
You'll never know, some amazements might be hidden somewhere deep down the buttonpushing ...
Guess the manual still are a quick guide, if any delivered in the box at all?
If not, just open the pedal and switch the pair of connectors to turn the polarity.

I have looked anywhere possible in the menus and can not find it, if possible at all. I guess I'm too used with the the user friendly capabilities of T2. I may have to open the pedal instead, don't want to buy a new one, had it for the past 10 years (Old Roland, impossible to break )

Hey Morten
You should open the pedal and check what kind of switch is there..some of them have a duoble contact, I mean opposite state.Just solder to the other..very simple.I did taht to a Yamaha pedal, has just a simple metalic contact, I hade to reajust the blade into another position, it's still working after years!
If you send me a photo on viocaia@yahoo.com I can advise better.

Hey viocaia.

I managed to solve the problem, I just had to heat up the good old soldering iron and exchange the wires. It's a bit irritating that you have to take such drastic measures for what ought to be a simple task.
But it works now, and that's what matters

it sucks taht now if you wanna use it as it was , on your old keyboard you can't ,

that's ok, just bring the soldering iron with you everywhere you play,

i mean it would probably make TOO MUCH sense to have the polarity switchable on AUDYA

Well luckily my old board is a Tyros 2 where switcing polarity can be done in 5 seconds.

Mount a A/B switch while it's open, then you have the options
whatever keyboard you use.
Or a more expensive solution, buy a new pedal with switch already
mounted.

since your Tyros 2 has adjustable polarity,
this only means one thing,
the AUDYA 2 will also have it
