Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/04/09 03:43 PM

... your input and suggestions will be appreciated. First of all, as you all know, we've put a lot of research into developing the AUDIO styles (and of course there is still more room for growth to enhance this technology even further [which we will do]), but OUR CUSTOMER'S INPUT (as always) is needed here to make such a great board even better.

What gene of styles would you like to see us add (give STYLE TYPE -E.G of song - Artist

*e.g REGGAE - Stirr it up - Bob Marley

This will give us an example of the direction to head for future style developments. Please, listen to the styles we have on there now BEFORE making suggestions so we do not duplicate what we already have.

* What sounds would need further elaboration/enhancing?

Other features and ideas (existing or to be developed) are also welcomed.

Thanks,

AJ

Already in the works together with one for AUDYA itself. This appears to be the way of the future - editing and creating on PC (personal computers that is).

Thanks,

AJ

"Already in the works together with one for AUDYA itself"
Does that mean that there will be other PC editors for other Ketron products like the MidiJay?
Another feature I was thinking about is a style part mute feature but with an added twist. When a part is muted, you can play that part live on the keyboard with the same sounds and effects that that part has on the style. Want to take a bass solo, then mute the bass and have the sound assigned to a live keyboard part for playing. When you are done then unmute the part and retern to where you were before. Whith the drums, perhaps some drum parts can be assigned to a pad so that when you pres the pad, that particular part of the drum kit is muted in the style but being played live by the user. So for example, you can have a bass drum assigned to a pad. So when the user presses the bass drum pad the bass drum would be muted in the styled and you will hear what the user is playing live. So the pad would replace the bass drum in the style by the live playing of the user.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 05:07 AM

AJ,

I would like to see a new style library (for sale) like the one they did for the MS series back then.

I would also like to see ethnic style packs for different countries, Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc.

I know even with 300+ styles sometimes styles become boring, so releasing new styles can revive a keyboard. But please don't forget the older models like SD5, XD9 if there can be new limited style selection for them that would be nice also.

Similar to, or at least including features found in the SD1 Mastering Studio.

Hi AJ,
As I have already posted in another thread, please make the borad more accessible to the blind and visually impaired musicians.
Is this being worked on?

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 08:16 AM

Dnj made a VERY good point when he said:

"They should of asked before the designed the Audya not now."

ye, more RAM, HD, USB hidden or on back, better knobs, sliders, touch screen, mod wheels where they should be, F buttons lining up with menus

but can't change that....so

how about more guitar loops for more styles, how about finishing recording complex chords, how bout more contemp. styles, how bout dropping price too..

that's it for now

AJ, I'm sure I'll have some suggestions IF and WHEN the Audya becomes available to me. So far the few in the U.S. have already been spoken for. Maybe in the next order.
Unlike some of the others, I won't make suggestions on something I've only seen and and heard for a few minutes and never really played.
I do appreciate your asking though.

Would have liked to see one shipped out here so the Ketron fans in California would have had a chance to come in and try one out! This was not smart marketing.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 01:14 PM

I have one thing AJ...on a stupid 5000$ machine give us a Sampler thats able to at least do
50% of what a 2000$ PA800 Sampler has, not more but only 50%...nothing else.

Thanks

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 02:20 PM

Its not Ouch, its straight forward and honest, isnt it? I'd like to have a sampler on the Audya.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 03:49 PM

Ok, i wasnt quite objective up there but lets get real, an honest input huh?:
5000$=

1.I would like to see the RAM expanded up to 512MB or 1GB, at least 512MB.
2.I would like the AUDYA to have a Sampler (which at this time it don thave one).
3.I would like to see the Audya have a sequencer in it, at least 16 tracks, please
dont say has one, the SongPlay mode can be manipulated by recording from
a Style, thats not a Sequencer, i want one like on the PA series.
4.I want a Style Ediort/Creator (which Audya dont have one now) with event Editor.
5.I want Sounds Editing abilities and functions (changing FX presets and adding
aftertouch to a sound i dont call Sound Editing). I am talking about SCRATCH!

Now, thats all i want but all of that to be the same as on a 900$ Korg PA80 or
2000$ Korg PA800 (forget PA2X, thats way ahead of Ketron, probably in 2030),
it doesnt have to be more advanced, just like that exactly. I would reasonably say
600$ per each feature above that Audya doesnt have and it cant be called a synth
or an arranger without those, 5x600$=3000$, thats minus present price.
Final price??? 1999.99$!
Now there is nothing for Ouch in here...at least i believe so. I would love someone
to prove me wrong, actually i wish, i challenge Anyone including AJ.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 03:59 PM

What the audya has going for it is its drums, the live sound and the half finished audio guitar loops. Midjay too I guess but not everyone needs it.
Posted by: George Kaye

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 05:08 PM

All of the Ketron products since the X1 have had real live drum loops on many of their styles. How is the Audya any different in that department?
Just from the pictures, players who use pitch bend and modulation wheels do not like them way up high on the front of the keyboards. On the left side of the lowest keys is the most practical spot even if it makes it a little longer.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 06:14 PM

Untill everything finished, the stuff i mentioned above AUDYA is nothing more then a
MIDJAY PLUS with KEYS, NOTHING ELSE!
Actually Midjay is better, it reads SD5 styles better then AUDYA, it should be more money then
Audya itself, maybe 2100$ while Audya 1800$ maybe.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 07:12 PM

And as Dikki said on another post, how can anyone give an input when 95% of them dont
even know what Audya has already, to ask for something firs ou have to know what you got.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/05/09 10:38 PM

... points above have been well noted.

We will revisit again once more units have become available in the US in order to get TRUE feedback (I wasn't aware the US supply was that limited at first).

As for those in Europe/Asia ... etc, any feedback?

Thanks,

AJ

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/08/09 01:49 PM

It would be really nice if the time signature of the styles were displayed alongside the style names e.g 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 12/8. As far as I can see from the various demos this info is not displayed anywhere.

With regards to style gene, some Scandinavian Danceband styles would be nice e.g
Scan Shuffle, Scan Country, Scan Waltz

Thanks.

When Ketron get the Audya from Beta test version to a proper release candidate,
then they should look at the pricelevel (specially in Norway).
Then they could ask MidiSpot to produce some great sets of styles. Just look
at the ModiSpot site and see what to find, now sadly only make Yamaha styles...

Cheers

I agree, Midi Spot makes some great sounding styles.
They actually do make the styles for other brands including Ketron SD1.
You can find them here: http://www.andmccoy.com/?setlang=2 It's a different name but the same company.

Yeah, they did, but do you see updates/news for any other models other than
Yamaha Tyros anymore?
Also you have to go to Midispots main page to find the new aditions.

Keep on playing

"Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ..."

How bout making it actually available at the stores ??? now there's a thought

make it available here in NY, in Major stores like Sam Ash, Guitar Center, Manny's Music, B&H, etc.

how can Ketron succeed when Ketron is not being sold everywhere?

OK, so a few old-timers overseas got theirs, how bout the rest of us here in USA, ???

and this is the reason why Arrangers are "non-existent" in USA, they are nowhere to be found

well i guess if i want the AUDYA i can goto Portugal and buy it,
wait they are all out of the few they got in.

bad strategy for the success of Ketron, but what do i know ???

If you didnt know, you will NEVER see it in those stores, except B&H, MisterSounds,
Frank in Ct and maybe few more in our are,
nowhere else like in regular music stores.

that's the problem
and that's why the American Arranger market is "dead" and "aging" ;-)

Major music retailers can't even sell what they have their stores now. I haven't seen a Roland in Sam Ash or Guitar Center in over 7 years. Ketron has always done well in smaller mom and pop stores.

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 05/20/09 12:02 PM

"Ketron has always done well in smaller mom and pop stores."

problem is these mom & pop stores are very few and far between, so how is one to go try one out?

this is why many (ie. Diki) will probably never buy AUDYA as keyboard is nowhere where one can try it out....

Thats one of the problems no more mom and pop stores, rondos music on route 22 was a big seller of ketron, there now gone. I would call ted from CMG (ketronusa.com) to see if they can locate one for you. I never had a problem with Lou from Bell Duvox(former ketron dist.), but there now gone also.

I won't rely on diki buying one anyway....

Re: Now that the AUDYA has been officially released ... - 07/10/09 10:10 AM

I would really love to be able to save Intros, Endings, Reintro, Fill and breaks along with the single registrations. A feature like this would really give some great opportunities in performance.

I think Ketron should take a look at how Yamaha's registrations are working. All the above is possible on Yamaha keyboards and is the single feature that makes them stand out.

Add this ability to Audya and you have not only the best sounding arranger but also the most powerful in performance.
