Polyphony? Could it be reduced?

Polyphony? Could it be reduced? - 12/16/02 08:44 PM

On some of my sequences like "Hotel California" or "Stand by me", the music is being cut off if I hit a chord on the SD1.

Now my old Korg used to do this if there was too much polyphony. The cymbal would usually be the first thing to go. But for example in Hotel California, if I'm playing piano chord that are like 5 or 6 notes, then the guitar solo is vanishing. This makes NO sense because those two songs I mentioned as an example had no problem on my Korg I2 and this SD1 is supposed to have DOUBLE the polyphony of the Korg.

The sequence is no different. Same with "Amazed", a Lonestar song. The string cut out in parts if I hit a 3 or 4+ note chord. These songs should be nowhere near the 64 note polyphony limit as they have worked fine on my old board.

Any idea what's going on?

justforfun000,

Please send me the midifiles in question to analyze this situation further.

Thanks,

AJ

PS: When you play chord on Sd1, what sounds are you using - Prorgrams? Are you using SONG PLAY or Sequencer to play the midifile?

Ok. I can do that.

to your PS: It's the song play I presume. You know, the song button lit, hit disk, scroll over and load.

As to what I'm playing? The regular Grand Piano that comes up about 90% of the time. I don't really understand the difference between the regular instrument batch vs program vs 1 touch vs user voice, etc. I've ignored delving into that area so far as other issues have been more paramount.
