I have one unit which I have been working on and development is complete. I will be willing to show-off the unit to those who are interested, before the production units are released in a couple of days.

Current location(s):-
* Chuck Levins Washington Music Center in Wheaton, MD {Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3pm - 6pm}[301-946-8808 - ask for Home keyboards].
OR http://www.chucklevins.com/list.asp?d=keyboards&sd=arrangers&t=Module

* Keyboard City in Baltimore, MD {Tuesdays. Time TBD}. 410-665-6434
OR http://www.keyboardcity.net/ketron-sd1.htm

This unit is worth checking out ... especially if you're a performer who has always wanted to have more control over audio files, Midi Accordion/Guitar player or just want to check out some amazing new 'Audio' styles!!

Thanks,

AJ, how good does it handle MP3 playback, search and interplay with SMF and/or Style play???

Fran,

MP3 playback is quite good indeed. You can actually sync. a style/midifile and fade into an MP3/Wave file OR (in the case of a wave), stretch or chage the tempo to match your current selection or change/transpose the wave file to match your key/tune. With the optional vocalizer, you can add your harmonies while suppressing the lead singer in a wave file!!

As for the search mode, it is quite advanced. Whenever you load any file into the Midijay, it is assigned a number and displayed alphabetically. Via Numeric Search, you can call up the file instantly if you know it's assigned number. Via Alphabetical search, you can type in the first few letters and narrow your display to only the files that start with those letters ...either within the current folder or the entire root folder - typing in the complete song ofcourse pulls up just the song in question!!

The combinations are endless...

AJ

This looks like a cool item. Can it load wav/mp3 files while it's playing? i.e. at the same time.

Thanks in advance.

AJ"

Interesting that upgrading should be a topic of discussion within Ketron.

Based upon the upgrade history of previous Ketron products, you may have been better off talking about obsolesence.

X series users continue to wait; SD1 users continue to wait, Vega users continue to wait.....it there a pattern here?

All our products that were released with the capability of Software upgrades were initially released with OS-1.0. Gradually, these updates went up as high as 4.0 (with some releases having a, b and c updates for minor changes); so "... based upon the upgrade history of Ketron Products...", we have offered upgrades on previous products (and I mean the true history now).

With the Midijay also being software upgradeable and the current release being at 1.0, a couple of more upgrades are well anticipated into the future!

Thanks,

AJ

X-series owners now have a new OS 5.0 on our website.

Also included is the Express Manual for Midijay (for those who want more information on this new product).

Thanks,

I've got an interesting idea/question. Can software be loaded on to the midjay? With it's 20 gig harddrive? Here's what I'm thinking.
Load gigastudio into this bad boy. Put some incredible samples in there, and trigger them via midi. A hardware unit that can play giga! Oh, please! Tell me this is possible! that'd be KILLER!
and if not, create the midjay 2 immediately and I'll buy one. I'm a live gigging musician, to be able to play my tracks, my between set music, arranger functions, and incredible lifelike instruments via giga, all in one machine, and with a 20 gig harddrive, you should be able to make this happen.

Re: MIDIJAY is here ..... from Ketron. - 11/23/04 01:53 PM

This may seem like a silly question, but would the Ketron SD1 play the styles that come with the Midjay at all or would some editing be required?
I'm tempted to get one of these especially since it plays MP3 files, but I feel it would be too similar in the sound department to my SD1, so here's hoping Ketron will bring out a new 76 note arranger version soon capable of MP3 playback (something similar but better than the Wersi Ikarus maybe with a CD writer built into it?).
