New Ketron Keyboard - 12/04/02 11:00 PM

Team,

What are some of the factors that 'push' you away from your old keyboard and pull you towards a new keyboard all together?

* New, better sounds.
* New styles programmed with the new voices, new drum sets and new audio loops.
* New functions, stable OS with better and quicker over-all navigation...
* New .... case? (well, we left this out for now).

We have rebuilt the SD1 keyboard and given it most of what you requested in terms of sounds, drum sets, new audio loops, styles and functions. We also included some 'stuff' of our own to give this machine the edge in today's market.

Sounds of the groups Guitar, E.Piano, Strings and Organ have been totally re-sampled and will be provided to be installed via FLASH. The ROM sounds have been retuned to provide better Hi-Fi response. We have remapped and retuned all X-series styles using new drumsets and the new sounds (it's like playing old records that have been re-mastered onto CD!!) Optional FLASH styles will also be provided which can be used to replace current FLASH styles!!

Ofcourse we also optimized a lot of the other issues we got to know about the keyboard in time.

This 'new' keyboard will be demonstrated at this Winter NAMM show in CA, and you will need to see and hear the difference to believe that once again, Ketron has taken the lead.

What is the best part of all this? This keyboard will cost you $0.00 (for current SD1 owners)!! That is right! We will make this new, huge OS4.0a available on our website for all current SD1 owners to download and install with precise instructions. Due to the volume of disks, this OS might take a while to download and install, but we garantee you will be pleased with the results.

Again, we would like to thank you all for your input for we have incoorporated your ideas into re-designing this machine and plan on keeping this one of the best in the market ... for a while.

Best wishes and happy holidays from Ketron.

AJ

AJ this is Wonderful !!!

So we must wait until Namm Show in January?

About this upgrade i have read, in other posts, that it will be release with a user manual: is it possible to read a preview of this manual?

Thanks.

Thanks AJ !

You made me very curious and I can't wait to install the upgrade

I never realized more than 1 FDD (appr. 1,5 Mb) was flash-able.
If Ketron did fix all 'problems' (especially the DSP hiss- and clicks) they make me VERY happy !!

Luis ............nice to hear that you think the 9000 is boring . I just do not get what they are hearing . The Sd1 is just a better sounding keyboard IMHO .

How are you coming along ? Did you try lowering the output levels to bring the noise down ? dano

DAN01,
I'm really sorry because I didn't say thanks to everybody who answered my post about my SD1 problems. I didn't use and test already all the tips given because I'm without the keyboard at the moment. My SD1 had two or three scratches and I think it was a demonstration keyboard. It happened I'm now waiting for a new SD1 to come. I bought a NEW keyboard right?! So I want a NEW one

I'll test all the tips given by everybody when I have the new keyboard and will then give some feedback and thanks about it.

By the way... Can I adjust the EQ on the voice, on the SD1? I sold my effects processor unit to use only the keyboard while playing live... I hope it can handle it with the voice...

Re: New Ketron Keyboard - 12/05/02 04:20 PM

Oh... another thing about 9000PRO...
I really didn't like the yamaha...
I'll explain why: When I noticed the scratches and all that problems about the noise, the clicks,..., I tried 9000PRO one more time because I could easily trade the SD1 for the Yamaha, since it's the only keyboard "comparable" to the SD1 having 76 keys, instead of having to wait a week or two...
It happened that one more time I didn't like the styles and didn't like the sounds on this one!! Of course maybe it's more relyable(is this word right?) than SD1 but I wouldn't trade it for that! I prefer my SD1 with the noise and another actualproblems, that I hope OS4 will fix!

Thanks for the help given on the SD1, DANO1 !

Re: New Ketron Keyboard - 12/06/02 08:44 AM

Although I do not own an SD-1, I was giving serious consideration to acquiring one. The news about the upcoming software date is certainly welcome. But I was wondering about the hardware reliability issues that have been discussed in numerous posts over the past several months. Recently even George Kaye seemed to confirm that display problems have been an issue.

With this re-introduction of the SD-1 with OS version 4.0 planned for NAMM in January, is anything being done to address some of these hardware reliability issues?

Re: New Ketron Keyboard - 12/06/02 09:51 PM

Ketron acknoledged a problem with the SD1's display a few months ago and a fix was initiated which required a soldered board rather than a socketed board. Any SD1 requiring this repair I'm certain will be taken care of by Ketron. Since the problem was isolated to the display and Ketron was able to identify the problem, I've not had any problems with any of the new boards arriving from New York.

Re: New Ketron Keyboard - 12/11/02 09:40 AM

Will you be able to load the new system files via the KetronFT program directly from the computer (rather than copy to floppy disk)?
Posted by: Ketron_AJ

Re: New Ketron Keyboard - 12/12/02 12:41 AM

don1324,

No. You will still need to load the new OS via a couple of disks this time (probably 10)

Thanks,

AJ
