SD1 or XD9

SD1 or XD9 - 11/13/02 08:53 PM

I am debating between these two babies (SD1 and XD9). The SD1 costs twice as much. Is it worth it? Your comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've owned the XD9 for ~ 2 months and very satisfied with the keyboard. The only reason I personally would trade up to the SD1 would be for the 76 keys, since I'm a piano player. Another reason might be for the audio/wave file usage, however that's somewhat limited now in the SD1. If you're happy with 61 keys, then I'd say the XD9 would be a great "can't go wrong" choice.

Korgfan... To the best of my knowledge, the SD1 will record a maximum 14 seconds of audio. While audio segments can be looped, it would be impossible to record an audio track for an entire song.

61 keys can save you money vs. the SD1 .

Sound for Sound , style for style the XD9 is very comparible . The XD series is priced very competitively ! You can customize the XD9 by selecting different options such as hard drive , vocal kit , pattern expansion and video interface . The SD1 is a all in one package ( except for video interface) .

Are you playing mostly styles ? or midi sequences ? dano

the XD9 does not have dedicated 16 tracks sequencer . However , you can record directly to disk or the hard drive . Start a style and begin to play , the XD9 will record everything .

The XD9 does play midi files from floppy disk or files that are on the hard drive .
Ketron does include 200 songs on the hard drive of the XD series .

What is interesting about the XD series is the DRUM REMIX feature . This allows you to take an existing midi file and substitute a drums from a pattern / style and syncipate it to the midi file . I di have an MP3 with an example .

You can record / sequence your own styles on the XD9 + XD3 . 3 intro's , 3 endings . 4 variations & fill ins can be created from scratch !

For my money the sounds on the SD1 are a lot better but I like the price and weight of the XD9
