Ketron_AJ, please help me in my new SD1(brand new) problem... - 12/07/02 02:44 PM

Ketron_AJ,

My new SD1 has a little problem and I'd like to know if I could fix it myself...It's not a big deal but it's a problem on this brand new SD1.
I played for a while and I noticed that the pitch wheel doesn't stay exactly on the "0" mark when I let it go. If I touch lightly the pitch wheel on the "0" positin, it moves a little bit and it's more than enough to keep me playing slighlty or even much out of the tone when I use it and then stop using it.
I also noticed another thing about this problem. I guess the SD1 helped me findind the error because sometimes when I turn the SD1 on there is a error message saying "pitch wheel position: not default"... This means the pitch wheel on my keyboard doesn't have a exactly "0" position.

Well... the keyboard is brand new and I can easily trade it but I'll have to wait a week or two and that's a problem to me right now...

If I open the keyboard can I fix this problem myself?...
If I only fix this problem later, out of the warranty, is this problem a big deal to fix or is it easy to fix?...

Please answer me quickly because it's really sad to buy a new keyboard and find this problem...

thanks in advance.

Luis.Santos,

I would not advise that you personally do this as you might void your warantee; however if the pitch wheel is slightly below the "0" mark, the top spring (when you open the keyboard) will have to be streched out/pulled back and vis versa.

Thanks,

Luis ,

Ask the dealer if they would allow you to open the keyboard and fix it and NOT void your warranty . It's up to your dealer to void warranty .

(Dano1, I'll try to ask if they let me open it tomorrow...)
But if they let me open it, can I easily fix this problem?... or is it better to let them fix it?...

Ketron_AJ:
I'm needing the keyboard right now and I can't wait another week or two...If I use this keyboard normally, with the exception of using the pitch whell of course, is this a quick and easy thing to repair if I take it to the dealer not in the next 2 or 3 months, but only after that time?
Should I keep the keyboard, if this is a easy thing to repair, or should I reclaim another new one?...

Help me please, because I need this keyboard to work...

Thanks one more time.

Luis.Santos,

I would advise (due to the time constraints you have) that you keep it and take to dealer when you have time - they should be able to fix it within 1hr. (without sending it back to NY) - after all, your warantee should be for 1yr. right?

Thanks.

Thanks.
Yes my warranty is one year.
Another thing I forgot to mention is that I'm from Portugal, so no NY stuff
