XP 30/JV 2080 - 01/28/00 01:04 AM
Hi,
i'm thinking about selling my JV 2080 and buy a XP-30 in order to have less stuff on stage (normally I play with two keboards + the JV 2080). Do you think it's a good idea?
The sounds are the same, but have they the same quality?
Or do you think Roland is going to bring out a new sinth soon and it's better to wait?
Thanks for your suggestions

Hi,
The NAMM show is next weekend. Wait until then at least. If Roland has some new synths they will announce, then it will be there. I've heard talk about a new sampler module but you're probably not interested in that. I'm not sure about all of the differences between the XP30 and the JV2080, but internally, they're similar. I'm not sure if the XP has the 3 insert fx or just the one (like the older JV1080). You may lack the extra outputs as well that the JV has and I think that you can't get as many expansion cards in them.
I personally don't think that swapping the JV for the XP is a bad idea depending on your future expansion plans and what other keyboards you are currently using. BTW, you did not mention which other keyboards you are currently using. That may make a difference as well.

Are those new stuff from NAMM will be available in the market right away? I remember when I saw JV-1010 I've waited 6 - 8 months before they release it in the market.

Only Roland can say that. Most products announced at NAMM are usually not shipping. There are times though when dealers get the products in within a few weeks. The other thing to is that sometimes they sell just as quick as the dealers get them in.
After next weekend, we'll all have a better idea.
