Help: XP-50 Drum Patches Suck! - 10/04/99 06:30 PM

Are the XP-50 drum patches really that bad? I've been trying to tweak them to get a better, more natural sound to no avail. They sound so dull and lifeless. Could anyone give suggestions on how to tweak the existing patches, or if the drum samples are way bad beyond tweaking, where to find the best drum patches for the XP-50 (a website perhaps)?

Thanks to all responding.

Sorry to tell you, THEY JUST SUCK!!!! Your best bet is to check into a drum module, like the boss 770, it sounds nice and tight, and there's tons of sounds to use. I have an xp-80(which I'm selling) and except when I first used it, have never once touched the drum patches for that very reason--THEY JUST SUCK!!!!

Purchase the SR-JV80-10 Bass&Drums board.

The bass and drums board is cheaper, but all in all the DR-770 sounds much tighter and more full in my opinion, plus you have independent effects to use on the dr-770 that you can use to become even more expressive. You can get it from musicians friend for $379 and from zzsounds for $349. See if a local dealer has it so you can compare the bass and drums xpansion to the dr 770. you'll see what I mean.
