MC-505 - to buy or not to buy - 04/11/99 04:35 PM

Hi. I own a jp-8080, which I am extremely happy with, it is an amazing source of samples. Having had $1500 returned in taxes I have been looking for some new equipment to get next. Naturally, the mc-505 caught my interest. My question is whether it is worth the cash or not? My prime fear is that it is too generic, too standard. Is that true? How is the drum-part of the thing, how are the drum samples and the actual sequencing and sound of the percussion?
Enlighten me ...

The 505 is probably the only original product out at the moment. The sequencer is worth the price alone and having the sound engine of the 1080 makes it an amazing product. I admit be prepared to spend a good 3-4 months learning the ins and outs of the product, But check this site for amazing songs composed entirely on the 505:http://www.coolcoolcool.com/mc505contest/
