Feedback on Korg ix300 - 01/18/02 01:00 PM
Hi, I'm a newbie to the board. I am looking for a "workstation" keyboard. I have a limited budget so I have been looking at a few older units. There is a Korg ix300 at a local music shop and I was wondering if it a decent unit. I will be using it in home only but I want a board that I can compose/record on without being too limited. I like what the Karma or the Roland Fantom do but my wallet doesn't.
Thank you for any responses.

turbogee....Suggest you obtain either Korg i30. Roland EM2000 or Yamaha PSR8000. These are all discontinued models that you should be able to obtain at the right price. Having myself owned the first two of these excellent boards, both would suit your purpose.
The Em2000 & PSR8000 have in-built Amp\speakers.

If your budget will only allow the ix300 - there are alot worse choices.
1)it has GM
2)it has auto arrangements
3)it has custom sound banks
4)you can record backing trax very easy
5)it plays smf direct from disk
6)third party companies offer hard drives for it
It's not a bad choice in the $400-600 range, after that ..... you might want to check the Yamaha psr2000. BTW - I have a used (but MINT) psr740 that you can buy. email me if interrested.

Thanks for the recommendations. I can buy the ix300 for $500.00 and thought for what it did was a pretty good deal. Does the psr740 do as much as the ix300? The unit I would like to get is the i30...but is too much $$$ for me.
