Any info on Battery for GEM WK3? HELP!

I am on a forum that a member has a Generalmusic WK3 and his problem is that every time he loads his user sounds and styles when he turns off the keyboard everything gets lost, I think it is the internal battery but he said that checking with Generalmusic service parts center in Germany said to him that if you unsoldier the battery there is a possibility of killing the CPU, would anyone here have any idea?
any advice would be helpful.
