transfering files to the genesys - 10/22/03 05:34 AM

Hi I am new to this chat room. I have the SK 760 power station. I am thinking about getting the genesys pro. However, I have saved some songs on SK as song files (not midi files) and I would like to know if they would transfere to the genesys pro? Has any one done this before? Are all the sounds on the SK on the Genesys? Talking about sounds, I like some of the sound samples on the hard drive of SK. If I can get them saved on to a floppy disk (which is another question), would the genesys be able to load them is I do a save sound on SK? Thanks in advance for your help. P.S the reason why I am asking all these questions, is that I have not been able to find any place relatively close to where I am that has the genesys else I would have tried all these things myself.

The answer to all your questions is yes. Genesys still has the "gem" song loading and saving besides the SMF song play, save and load and all of the SK sounds are on the genesys pro. You can save your sounds from the hard drive onto floppy disks and load them into the genesys and then save them on a hard drive.
Where do you live? I am a genesys dealer in southern california and I ship all over the country.

O K cool! I will try to save some of the sound from the SK hard drive on to a disk and will let you know how it goes. Good talking with you and will have more questions about this power board

I was trying to save some sounds from SK 760's hard drive to a Floppy. However I could not do it by saving single or all sounds. I had to load some of the sounds to ram then save the block. That was fine I did get to same some of the sounds and samples from the hard drive that I wanted. but one of the sounds I wanted Bosa and ofer piano, was too large to fit on the floppy. Is there any other way I could get that sound from off of the hard drive of SK 760?

What is the size of that sound? I cannot believe that it is larger than 1.44 megs.

I was taken back when the file size was so large.
I tried to save to disk but it said not enough memory on disk.

Of course, the floppy disk is only 1.44Megs so it is larger. How did you get it into the keyboard in the first place?

From the DISK/UTILITY menu you can format a disk to the GEM proprietary format of 1.62 MB. This is the method used for most of the sound library disks and will give you sufficient space for what you need. Disks formatted in this way however can only be used with other GEM instruments. They cannot be read on a PC.
