Newbie Question: What is a pad? - 03/20/02 07:11 PM
In reference to the "pad" sounds a synthesizer can make:
What is a pad sound?
What are pad sounds used for?
What is a pad sound composed of?
If I wanted to make my own pad sound, how would I go about it?
What pad sounds I have heard seem airy and go a long ways to imparting
atmosphere. I am guessing that there is a little bit of delay (a chorus
effect) and perhaps some further delay on top of that for echo effects. As
to what makes the basic pad sound, I can only surmise that you select two or
more instruments/voices and have them play harmony in whole notes or longer.
Some of the pad sounds I heard have orchestral qualities.
