I think I may have stumbled across something here about GEM users, they must be out gigging so hard they dont have time for these message boards.............or maybe they dont really exist at all and and GEM never really sold any keyboards.Hmmmmm maybe I'll never know.

I am about to purchase a Equinox 76. Is everyone happy with the internal sounds? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder where the best place to get Equinox(or at least hear one )in the northeast US would be, or does someone know where I can get an audio demo of the sounds?

Re: GEM user profile - 10/22/00 06:42 PM

i said it once and i'll say it again and this time with a proof, the first time i said maybe tHis forum is slow because GEM users don't have as many problems as others do,well i've ben using my WK8 since it came out and i owned prior to that a WK4 and prior to that a GEM WS1 so total of allmost 10 years of general music products, during these years i also owned along with that a roland G800,EM2000(both sold)and few days ago i got the famous solton X1,the number of problems i experienced with my GEM keybords during all these years are allmost less than i can count on one hand fingers, where in the other hand in about 3 days with my X1 it froze up on me about a douzen of times, same thing with the roland in particular the EM2000,without mentioning the great flexibility of the WK8 that puts all the rest of keyboards that i mentiond to shame when it comes to editing and interface capability, the only thing that GEM product lakes is the sounds quality but with 40 mb of sample memory that issu was eliminated as i allready sampled about 20 mb of new samples, don't misunderstand me the x1 is a great arranger no more no less but it's way over priced.
conclusion the reason you don't see a lot of posting here is because GEM users :
ARE HAPPY .

Eddy,

Have you sampled a good piano sound?

If yes, are you willing to share it with me?

Thanks

Re: GEM user profile - 11/15/00 01:39 PM

I am looking into buying a new keyboard, I used to own a D-50 and a GM SX2. I sold all my gear when i moved to the USA.
Anybody here got experience with the WK6 or higher. I have a few questions.

1. The hardest thing is that i want to see and play one before i buy. I live in Atlanta and sofar I haven't been able to locate a dealer who has something n stock.

2. Anybody know a online store that sells these boards ???

3. Is the SK760 equal to the WK6?

thanks

1) I agree. You have to try before you buy.

2) Yes. Many!!! 8thstreet music, they sell it for good price. Also George Kay is very respected and knowledgable dealer. You will find him in the arranger keyboard forum.

3) WK6 is supposedly identical to SK760. The difference is that WK6 has built in speakers while SK760 has 76 keys.

I hope this helps

Hi, I have the Equinox 61 (without any extensions) and I am happy with the sounds, yes. But -- there are some issues with the OS which are not all fixed yet. Previously I had the GEM WS1, WX2 and S2 and I like the Equinox most of them all. But, check out the Peavey forum if there aren't bugs in the OS that would block you.

Greetings,

Hi,

On the site of GEM there are audio samples in MP3 format available I believe.
