Let it go ..... - 09/04/02 05:19 PM

This is it !
At what point do you guys decide to sell a piece of equipment or do you hoard it all (like me a bit)
See I need a new Live mixed and as a typical musician I have Sweet.F.A. Cash .I have a fair amount of gear with dust on it (SH101 etc)which I like playing with ,I just dont play with them much anymore .I know that I'd miss them if i sold them but I just dont use them enough. I could use a new 24ch Live desk
Now (and every weekend plus the odd weekday)
Where do you guys draw the line ?
ever really regretted letting a piece of gear go??

Hello.........I must be a hoarder too! I have only sold gear that is/was new and didn't work out for my liking. Otherwise I still have EVERY piece of electronics available I have used since the late 70s. Of course most of it doesn't work anymore and have become "spare parts". A few still endure.......I still regularily use my Yamaha TX81Z and QX-5 and a Tascam M-06 mixer. I also have a working Alesis HR16, Casio CZ1000, and a Yamaha DX7. Most of the older controller keyboard synths have been given to my Dad who is either still using them or has retired them........he must be a hoarder too!

Same here,
There was a time one guitar was enough.!
Then came the electric and later electronic toys, and between lot's of other stuff...
Some was sold as there was absolutely no use for it, some stay, this is what's left at the moment ;
akai ax 60, roland jp8000, roland G800, Gem nova piano, kurzweil k2600S, yamaha cs30, roland digital delay sde1000,akai s612, boss stomp boxes (must be approx 15pcs),roland R8,
boss gt3, very old stompboxes (electro harmonix, vox, colour sound, schaller) roland GI-10, amt8 midi patchbay, delta1010 audiorack+card, line6 guitar port, spirit folio sx mixer, monitors , amplifiers, four mics, headphones, +250 cables, ethnic percussion instruments, 14 guitars , I am sure I forgot some

And still I recently bought an elektron machine drum, which probably will be followed by wether a waldorf Q or an acces virus C....

So yes, I'am an addict too....

It's never enough

THat sh101 will bring you a nice piece of change on eBay. They had a sort of "cult" following with Roland users.
I say - Get what you need now. Don't miss an oportunity that might not come again. Gear is ALWAYS out there .... you can replace almost anything.

If that 101 is red or blue, even better. They are valued higher than the standard grey 101s.

Good advice (as always Uncle Dave) ...I'll have a look around ebay and see what previous
SH's have gone for ,Slight problem could be shipping costs since I'm located in NZ.
yeah its grey with the little Hand grip but it is mint (since i hardly seem to use it!)
The trouble is I have lots of old gear that probably isnt worth anyting much whereas the SH might actually generate some useful cash.
Besides they might suddenly get unpopular overnight and not worth F.A !! hehe
