Newb Buying a Keyboard - 11/10/04 08:24 PM

Hello,

Im a complete newb and am attempting to get a keyboard. I already singled out getting a Midi controller due to the very high costs. My top two pics are the Casio WK-3000 and the Yamaha DGX203. They both look very good and very equally matched. Im ver opened to different boards, im just looking for input on a model i should get. I like the multi track recording and the pre set sounds. I plan on using this for on stage playing. My spending limit is close to 300$

Thanks for your input!

You might try posting your query on the General Arranger Keyboard Forum also. I know several folks over there have Casios and a large number have Yamahas. You might get more answers over there.

Personally, I prefer the WK1800 to the WK3000.

While the wk3000 has way more sounds and functions, I never needed all that. I also don't like the button instead of a modwheel on the wk3000. and to go up to the wk3500 for the mod wheel is going up about 100 dollars.

I prefer the feel of the wk1800's keybed to the wk3000.

The only downside I found with the wk1800 I found was that you can't save to standard midi file.

Also the wk300 has the wk1800 beat when it comes to the drawbar organ sounds. But personally, I wasn't using it to gig with and so the organ sounds from the wk1800 were always more than adequect.

I only used the wk1800 in the house. If I wanted to just play for 5 mins, I woild play the wk1800. If I was sitting down to write or to rehearse, I'd turn on the pro gear. But even when writing, It was nice to use the little seq. in the wk1800. Also I used the wk1800 to drag out to the park on a nice day once in a while.

Anyway... It's just an thought.
