Just teasing ya there Russ.
I am 58 and I'm always surprised when I look in the mirror and see that "old " guy looking back at me, 'cause I don't feel my age.
When I was a kid adults were old at 40.

The band I play in plays 4 hours each night. I play keys and lead/rhythm guitar so I most of the time I have a Les Paul hanging around my neck while I lean forward over the keyboard. By the time we get to the last set sometimes my back starts to ache from that big heavy lump of wood. I wonder if Guitar Center have a walker with an attachment for my Les Paul

Sometimes I switch to a lighter guitar like a Strat but I always keep going back ... I love the sound of a Les Paul for classic rock .... but at my age I do hate the weight. Russ, that Guild double neck you are playing in the photo must weigh a ton.

Hey, Nigel...that ugly sparkley thing is a Gretsch. I bought it as a lark...had a "rock-a-billy" job for a nearby philharmonic event. Only one hour, so it wasn't that bad. Rock-a-billy folks often play Gretsch, so I got a single neck and a "Bo Diddley". Then, I couldn't resist the double. Wanted to be as tacky as possible. Pretty useless, particurlarly with the two Bigsby tailpieces. Can tune the longer neck as a 6 string bass guitar (a-la-Duane Eddy, Rawhide, etc.) or as a baritone.

Fun toys for VERY OLD boys...

I can imagine what a chore it is to tune with those 2 Bigsby tremelo arms. But I bet it truly has some value being such a rare piece especially being made by a known manufacturer like Gretsch. I think you were very fortunate to aquire it when you did even if it was just to be tacky.

I used to play with a quitar player that used a Gretsch Country Gentleman. It was a very nice guitar, but the one thing I really remember it for was it had a cushioned back, which I'm guessing was to protect the back from belt buckles that many artists wore back in the 50s and 60s.
