I was hoping you could answer a few questions I have. I have a very
small midi rig that consists of a pc with an intel celeron 667 Mhz
processor, a crystal WDM Audio Codec sound card (came with pc), and
64 MB of sdram. The computer is running windows ME. I also have a
keyboard connected to the pc through a usb midi interface. Currently
I am using logic platinum 5.1 and have a few software synths. The
audio driver I am using is EASI MME. Now the problem i am having is
what i think to be a latency issue. When i press a key on the
keyboard the sound takes a second to play through my speakers. My
question is, is the latency because of the lousy sound card or
because i dont have enough ram. Would i need to buy a new sound card
or just get some more ram. I dont intend to record any vocals or
instruments on this computer, I just want to control my software
synths using my keyboard to input the midi messages. At the moment i
just want to use my setup to get my ideas down without having the
latency screwing up my performance on the keyboard. I hope you can
help. thanks anyways.

You need to select a Direct driver[not a mme driver or emulator]. You should also adjust the latency in your program[usually 20 ms is satifactory]. I have heard of problems with ME for music software..Fran
