I've been in there, linking + branching half the day. Wow, they sure have a lot of info and so much related stuff of interest.
Like in a forest. I may get so deep in there, I won't find my way back out.

I had that Yamaha SHS-10 in the 80's, but I don't ever remember it being called a "keytar" back then. It was kind of cool at the time, but felt and played more like a cheap toy. It had midi, and I remember using it to control a Yamaha TX81Z four operator FM synthesis tone module I loved. I didn't have it that long. I wouldn't mind having it now though..........it might make a fun midi controller for my Tyros2's guitars!!!

I found a video of a young lad demonstrating some good talent on one of these keytars.
Its a Roland with what appears to be some backing from his Motif.
A bit repetitious in some parts but still entertaining and a good demonstration.

I had heard a Yamaha TX81Z a long time ago.
A guy (not just any guy, but Ed Monteiro, a fine jazz accordionist/vocalist) had come to town to deomonstrate a new midi/arranger accordion and he used the TX81 to produce the synthesized voicings.
It really sounded dynomite!

Yes, I loved the TX81Z. At the time it was tops. It was almost a Yamaha DX-7 in a rack module. I only sold it 4 years ago. -charley

Put a lot of mileage on it.
Charley, you definitely got your money's worth out of it. (i think they were around $400)

I dont know. I might take one for a test drive if they release a turbo version. What does the engine sound like? (a DX7?) How do you switch gears? (8VA's)The neck? (presumed). What's the learn curve on it? Will it be around long or is this another Yugo?
