Roland Fantom X7 Help!

I have a major problem in that I change sounds very often and so I would always hold a chord for a beat so as I changed sound in preparation for the new sound. On this keyboard it appears the sound cuts out whenever you change sound where as I NEED the previous sound to carry over.

I have tried using the Performance Layer option and the Live Setting Play.

Anyone use this keyboard and have any answers??

I have a gig tomorrow so quick replies would be very much appreciated.

The function is called "patch remain" and its on by default. As far as I know it does not work in performance mode.
