JV-1080 problem

Hi all, Merry Christmas too.

I was wondering if anyone has come a situation like this before;
I was helping set-up a small studio, and I was running the on-board demo
tune within the JV-1080 as a signal source for testing.
Once I had finished with it, I could hear regular 'clicking' (about 1 a
second) coming from the mix output of the JV-1080.
After some investigation it seemed to be coming form the on-board Reverb as
tuning off the reverb removed the click.
I asked the owner about it, who explained it had always done it, and as a
result he never really bothered using the unit that much.

Has anyone come across this, more importantly is there a way to fix it?
I'm wondering if it's an early 1080, and if a EPROM form Roland cures it.
Any idea will be welcome.

I'm a former 1080 owner and I know the unit pretty well. ON ocasion they are known to output a bit of hum but that normally has to do with odd grounding problems. CLicking is most likely caused by some kind of a mild power interruption as in oppose to software problem. But really, having no real background in electronics I can't say for sure.
Do give Roland a call since they might be the only ones with real answers.

It's definfinatly internal as it appears on the headphone out of the JV-1080.
It's also a regular click as it's effected by changing the Reverb type. If the reverb is turned off the click goes.
Chorus and Delay seem uneffected (no pun intended).

The owner of the 1080 is going to call Roland tomorrow, hopefully they might know what it is.

I did a bit of a search on Google regarding this problem. I turned up a couple of postings on the news groups that had a problem with "crackling" when the EFX was on. But neither had ever been answered so they were no help. But the way it was described sounded like the same sort of problem. One of the posts described it as cyclic which does sound like your repeating click.

Roland or an authorized Roland service center may be your only chance of getting info on what may be causing this.

It's cyclic alright as it's far too regular.

I'm waiting to hear from the 1080's owner to see if he's been in touch with Roland yet.
I sent him instructions on how to find it's system version as I have a feeling he has an early 1080.
The band I normally work with has a 1080 in the keybaord rack, and it doesn't make this noise.
Myself, I've a 2080, and it too acts as it should.

I yet you know what the results are as so as I know myself.
