What do you people think of Michael Jackson?

I love his stuff up unitl the 90s. I've always adored his work - Particularly the stuff with the Jackson 5, Jacksons and the Quincy Jones stuff. The Jacksons stuff was amazing. There is some really good arranging by Greg Philinganes (keyboards) on the Triumph and Destiny albums.

Aside from all that child molestation trouble (that's another can of worms), what did you think of him as an artist back in the day?

I´ve listened to Jacksons until I was 12yo, they´re were good singers/musicians. After that, Jacko became a "popstar", with his work made only for millions of $$$.

Yes, his best time was in the earlier to the mid-eighties. But "Dirty Diana" and "Give in to me" were good, too.

Give me a break, all of his stuff is good. I don't really get "into" that type of music, but you have to give him credit for coming out with tons of pop hits. And the fact that he has made millions if not billions is the most impressive fact to me. I've always felt his live show sound sucked. His voice just isn't strong enough for live performance. I think Janet has by far a better "voice". Jeesh, have you see his looks lately? He has gone from bad to worse.

Ya gotta admire his stamina. Gotta agree with MRT with regards to pre '84.

Billions of dollars earned is a recommendation? Did I read that right?

I eat a Quarter Pounder with Cheese every once in awhile, and I'll even admit to occasionally enjoying the experience. But I reserve respect and praise for chefs who use their craft to stretch as well as impress my palate. I guess you could call it a skill - constructing something that offends the least number of people - but it's not a skill I'm interested in pursuing or holding up as an ideal.

I do! They call it a "Le Royal".

But I bet you can't guess WHY they call it that.

Not only "Le Royal", but "Royal with Cheese". That was just a quotation from "Pulp Fiction". But here in Germany it's called "Hamburger Royal". No idea, why....

Is that anything like a "royal flush?" (Uh, I'd say, with 27 grams of fat, that was a rhetorical question . . . ). On the Simpsons, they call it a Krusty Burger with Cheese (see Pulp Fiction vs. Simpson's comparison: http://www.duffzone.co.uk/reference_pf.shtml .)

There are really a lot of similarities. Matt Groening seems to be a Pulp Fiction fan!

I try not to think about him at all.

I love Jacksons stuff, but I wish I didn't.
So many people slag off his stuff and say they like him pre 84 but to be fair, even if you listen to his Dangerous album, there are so many good tracks on there compared to most other artists albums, where you may find just a handful of decent tracks and a couple of good ones, that it really annoys me when people start to slag off his music. And in anycase, its not just his music, if anything, it is down to the brilliant producers and song writers he works with. I mean, his Dangerous album, infact none of his albums really sound that dated in comparison to everything else that was going down at the same time. Just listen to that guy from Savage Garden's new album, that is a ripoff of Michael Jacksons style and songs

Poor songwritters and producers, there the real hero's. Mike Jacko Jackson is just a face to some great songs that have been created.

Long live the true, but often hidden artist's

I heard he is a pretty hands on guy.

I'd like to bring up another shallow thing about him, I heard his nose or parts of it fell off (again).
