I am prety certain that Kurzweil samples will not work with SD1. The SD1 does sample . However , there is no scsi port like you may find on a Korg Triton , Yamaha Motif , or Kurzweil K2600 series . This is a basic difference between high end workstations and the SD1 . You can load wav. files into the SD1 via disk and copy wav. files onto the hard drive to perhaps syncipate to an arrangement or midi sequence .
One very effective thing the SD1 will do is sample harmonized vocals up to 14 seconds !

You can actually SAMPLE the sounds off the Kurzwell keyboard (or any other) onto the Sampler of the KETRON SD1 via the Mic inputs (pref. Mic2 for line signals etc). In this case, what you'd have to do is set up the SD1 to sample, select AUTO (recording starts when signal is received), and determine length of signal etc. For close-to-perfection, MSP would be adviceable so you do not loose sample strength over the keyboard. You may have to EDIT the sample once the basic sound has been captured to get an even, clean sound (but so is the case for any sampler). For strings, brass etc, set loop Enlarge the image (zoom in) to get a better picture of START/END points for the new sample. When satisfied, STORE as a WAVE file onto HD/FD.

I think the GEM WK (6/8series) are able to directly LOAD in samples from Kurzwell and other manufacturers. This means that GEM does have a built-in converter which automatically converts the file type and saves as a RAM voice. This (in my opinion) could be better than having to sample the sounds all over since there is less loss in quality (or information) during the convertion process than there is during the re-sampling process.

Just my thoughts!
