PA4X - simply fantastic smile in every way. I look forward to the next several years with it (and thanks to a couple guys who kept in in mint condition).

Bose S1 - nice little unit, but way too under powered for what comes out of my keyboard, with vocals. Going back.

I might consider the newer QSC8.2 to lighten the load a bit, but these K10s still are fantastic.

I took a Bose S1 out of Guitar Center. Tried it with the S970 and the KMA -- it could not handle the volume without reminding me that is was too small.
When I brought it back I asked him to play in the speaker room with Bluetooth from his phone. At high volume he did It fill but it was distorted.

Sad, I pictured two Bose S1 speakers one on either side of my Pa4x which is coming this week. (Honoring Stereo, ha ha Donny)

I am looking for two small great quality speakers to use with the Pa4x in my home.

QSC K10 speakers are fantastic... 32 lbs.

The new QSC K8.2 are supposed to be very close to the K10 in sound with a wider dispersion. They weigh in at 27 lbs and cost in the $649 range.

32 lbs vs 27 lbs... saves 5 lbs per speaker.

Enjoy the Pa4X... be the next guy who takes care of it!! So, there is a real difference between the Pa1000 and the Pa4X!!!

Glad you're happy with the 4x. The s1's seemed to be monitors not mains to me, regardless of the name + price..Did you get the dual mount for the qsc's?

No surprise to me. The specs said 103dB for the Bose S1 Pro.
That‘s simply not enough for a PA system.
Small PA systems like FBT J5a, JBL Eon 206p, HK Nano 300 or Bose L1 all have more than 110dB.
The Bose S1 pro is certainly nice, but too expensive as a mini PA system.

Tony this is only my opinion.

Bose L1 can carry highs across a room. The bass goes in every direction. So what I hear is thin high sound and a nice but gentle bass. You can hear it but you do not feel it.
The Bose S1 fits into the same category – but less than. My hat off to Bose, they have done one fine job. They have overcome weight with technology. So my 40 pound Bose Compact is doing a real nice job.

If the Bose was the same weight as JBL and, and ,and -- I would not own one. The best example I can give for those who owned a Kn7000 and now a Pa4x. The Kn had fantastic a fantastic sound but it had no (Excuse the expression) had no balls. I spent years try to add bottom and some mid-range with different SubBasses. I also used an EQ and a BBE Maxamzer. I even used an external drum sound module to boost the drums.

So to answer your question: I want a warmer sound for my studio; warmer than Bose can offer. Keeping in mind that weight is not an issue.

As my ears begin to age I’ll most likely change my opinion. (smile)
