Does anyone use a small powered mixer with non powered PA speakers? Just trying to simplify things in my setup. Any comments appreciated.

Hi

If you are considering a Powered Mixer and passive speakers, For my own experience, great sound quality, reliability and VERY light weight I recommend the Yamaha EMX, there are several models, basically the difference is how much power do you need, the smallest is the EMX 2, then EMX5 and the most powerful EMX7.

I would pair them with the Yamaha passive speakers CBR, there are also several models, those vary in woofer size and power handling....CBR 10, CBR12, CBR 15.
The Mixer and speakers combo can be positioned in several practical positions...

My 2 Cents...

Manuel

I stopped using a mixer more than a decade ago - one of the best moves to lighten the load and streamline the system I made.

Good Luck,

Gary

Hi Gary,

I really like a mixer to control my whole operation. It's so easy to set up with the Yamaha mic bracket, which neatly tucks into the keyboard tubing - right at fingertips, cool - takes 30 seconds.

I will always use a mixer. Next up is determining how to use the keyboard VH and run stereo outs at the same time, if I ever decided to use that feature - so far, not interested for the reasons discussed many times - the duck trio smile IMO

Question? How do you get your FX if you don't use a mixer? If it's in the PA itself, seems it would be hard to control on the fly?
