HI All,

Im really getting tempted to upgrade from my S900 to an S950 as it fits the bill. Of course I could splurge on a great Tyros 3 deal but 2 things stop me 1) No Indian drum kits or style and 2) No onboard speakers which is a must for me since my playing heavily relies on them and lugging extra speakers is a pain.
Is there any hint of a successor for the S950 so then Ill wait for it. Or else Ill go for the S950 now selling my S900 since Im about to cut a Christmas Album too.

Any help?

Thanks

Sunny

Best bet, Sunny, is if anyone here (I'm thinking Ian) has a handle on Yamaha's MO in their timing cycles in releasing new models. Given that Korg's PA900 has been around for a little while now, can it be too long before Yamaha comes along with a new MOTL. Ian? Anyone?

I'm thinking late 2014 Yamaha will wow us with a successor to the S-950. Place your bets ladies and gentlemen, place your bets!

Cheers,

I'm surprised, if you are mostly into Indian music, that you aren't considering a Korg. They are the industry leaders in making non-Western music arrangers.

Hello Diki,

I have had 2 Korgs in the past. A PA500 and the PA1X. Just couldnt get to grips with the UI after always being a Yamaha person. The PA1X was too heavy to lug around and that was the main reason to let go of it. ALways felt at home with Yamaha keyboards. The newer boards like the 650, 950 have Indian rhythms and expansion packs which would suit very well to my requirement. Also, I get all the other styles from Yamaha too which I am accustomed to. My music comprises of mainly 70% western and the rest Indian style music. So...

Hi Sunny,

The S950 should serve you well. The voices are from good to very good. Lots of styles to choose from. Includes majorly western but also has some Indian Styles. I use it with CM-110 and its quite a good combination for a Home setup.

I had sent you a PM long while ago and I note that you haven`t read it yet. I do not know if you`re aware of PM feature of SZ yet but do check out the "Messages" under "My Stuff" of this site. Sorry if you already know this.

Regards,
Jez
