I ordered a Intel Core2 duo (2.8) 13.3" laptop ...loaded....Vista Ultimate 64 bit..4 gigs ram,,,,320g hard drive ..USB, Firewire, PC slot, card reader...DVD/CD burner with laser labeling, cam..etc

A couple months ago , I bought the Lenovo s-10...10" netbook...works great but chokes a bit when I pushed the VST's...This time I wanted all the power I could get..thus the new Toshiba....

I will also keep my trusty Compaq pentium4 laptop with XP Professional as my back-up..

My only non compatible software (64bit) are as follows..
Roland Super Quartet
Roland Orchestral
Acid Pro 3 and 4
VanBasco

I am hoping to be able to backwards compatible these..so they may work...Has anyone tried this fix..

My other software will work fine including HyperCanvas with the new Vista update..

MixCraft4 is my go to audio recorder and soft synth host program anyway..so Acid Pro is not a big deal for now..

Should have it Thursday and I hope ready to work at Friday's gig...

Fran, After reading your post about the Lenovo S10, I bought one for my wife for Christmas. She wanted something lightweight that she can take on trips or carry on a plane. It's perfect for her needs, she loves it, but she's not doing anything more than e-mail, browsing the web and some word processing. I liked that it had a large hard drive versus some of the other brands that only had an 8 gigs total storage.

Sounds great. Two suggestions if I may. Use an external sound card interface. If you plan to use Firewire in any way for music apps, ensure the FW chip set is a Texas Instruments.

You should run VSTI Apps with ease. DO you use them live?

Does your Roland arrangements drive you VSTIs or do you play them live?
