(not you Diki )

If you're also an organ player, check out the Nord C1. A two-manual "B3" at 33lbs. Probably doesn't bounce, either. This may delay my AUDYA purchase.

Looks very 60ish. Alas, while it mentions tonewheel it doesn't mention B3.

And how much for that baby, Chas?

Taike, best price so far is $2799.99 at MF ($2899.95 at ZZSounds but they will price match).

Some manufacturers won't use the term "B3" but use the more generic "tone wheel" instead. Make that "tone wheel - wink, wink". It's not here yet but if it's all it's cracked up to be, it'll be the source of my next big marital battle. Heck, if I don't take my medication, I might even spring for one of those newer Leslie's. unnnnnn...nah.

B3 is a Trademark of Hammond, and so cannot be used on any other instrument. (This is why the Native Instruments Hammond B3 VST software is called B4)

What do you think on their version of drawbars? Do you have to hold the up or down button for each bar until it gets to where you want it, or can you touch a segment on the light bar and go directly to that point? I think I still the tactile feel of real drawbars. What's your opinion?

Curious, they go to SUCH lengths to make it physically similar to a B3 - waterfall keys, manuals at the right distance from each other, Leslie paddle at the left - and then forget to put some REAL drawbars in! There are just SO many things you can do with real drawbars (grabbing several in one go, 'flicking' a drawbar off, working a handful of high drawbars for a wah-wah-type sound) that buttons just can't do.

Other clone-wheels (Korg & Roland amongst them) have drawbars, so it CAN'T be a patent thing... Why drop this (IMO) essential feature for REAL B3 players? (LOVE the weight, though!).

So near, and yet, so far....!

$2799 USD... and to think I could have bought a B3 with a Leslie for $3000 back in' 69.

I wonder if the B4 hardware controller could be used for real drawbars? And didn't Voce make a MIDI drawbar controller for one of their early rack B3 sims?

It would have been nice to throw in their Rhodes and Wurli sims for when you don't need two manuals of organ, too. I haven't had time to look at the manual, yet, but if it has pretty reasonable master controller features, it still might make a pretty good gigging keyboard...

Now, where's the pedalboard...?
