What is the best Vol/ expression pedal to use with the Roland

G70?

I'm having vol problems at the moment and my engineer has given

the keyboard the "all clear" but thinks the problem might be

a "dodgy" vol pedal.

At present I'm using the YAMAHA FC 7, I think it best to get a

Roland pedal, which one?

If you are an organ player, the EV7. Rather expensive, but it has the same sort of throw length a Hammond pedal does. If you are OK with shorter throw pedals, the EV5 is good.

NEVER use a Yamaha expression pedal in a Roland! Although it SORT of works, the taper of the pot is all wrong, and you get the majority of the action in one small area of the throw. Roland pedals work smoothly through the whole range of motion.

I've never used a 3rd party expression pedal for Roland... I don't know if anyone makes one specifically, do they? Be careful you don't get one with the Yamaha taper on the potentiometer...

Thanks Diki for the advice.

My problem relates to an intermittent sound level on my G70 on

the odd gig. I did mention this on the forum sometime ago.

I have had the G70 checked out and the engineer says it is more

than likely the pedal (FC 7, which may be faulty or not

suitable for Roland at all( as you mentioned).

I do have the EV5 which is very lightweight and I will use it

until I get the EV7, (is it made of metal or plastic)

EV-7 is plastic, but built pretty solidly. No issues with mine...

Ordered my EV7 from Thomann Germany, after checking it out in

the flesh in shop in Dublin, cheaper to buy from Germany

Since Ireland changed to the Euro, Thomann’s price maybe okay for Euro users, but not necessarily OK for the Sterling (GB pound) or Dollar area or other non Euro areas. I bought from them once in UK but between accepting their advertised price in GB pounds and paying for the goods, the price had risen considerably. I think they manipulate the exchange rate. I complained but they gave me a load of nonsense about the exchange rate and their total honesty. I suppose I could have returned the goods but I didn’t bother in the end since the article I bought wasn’t too expensive (a microphone). Anyway, the point is, if you live in non Euro countries, and you use Thomann, the price may, and probably will change between ordering and getting. I asked them to stand by their advertised price but they refused point blank. I know that they could, and should keep to their advertised price since fluctuations in the exchange rate have a swings and roundabouts effect. What is the good of advertising a price if you are going to alter it when someone buys from you? I find that bordering on dishonest. Has anyone here bought from Thomann and found that the price actually went down ( because of an exchange rate change) between ordering and paying? That might restore my faith in Thomann (might, might not).
