Can anyone recommend a decent one? I am using The Sax brothers VST (absolutely sensational by the way) but ideally I need a proper expression pedal as I have CC11 assigned to the mod wheel!!

I had a guitar volume pedal at home and I chanced my arm with that.........no joy so I'll need to order one asap.

Thanks for any advice.

Yamaha FC7 is the 2nd best expression pedal I have come across and the one we recommend for use with the KeyB Organ. Its metal body keeps it in one place and the expression curve is just about right. The best one is the EXP100 but its can only be used with recent Hammonds' sadly (24v lamp and LDR)

Hi Stein67

Don’t forget that when you get your pedal, you will need to adjust the dynamic curve of your VST to match the pedal if you wish to get the best out of your Sax sound.

Thanks Bill.

Thankfully I went back in to Amazon and quickly cancelled my order until I done a bit more digging regarding the compatibility with the Novation Impulse. Just as well I did as it is not recommended by Novation!!

I'm looking at their recommended pedals now before I buy.

Nothing is ever straightforward!!

The main thing with expression pedals is throw... How many degrees does the pedal go through from top to bottom?

If you are a Hammond player of old, the more, the better! But if you are a guitarist as well, and are used to the much shorter throw guitar pedals, sometimes things like the Yamaha FC7 can seem awkward.

Generally, the curve or slope of the pedal's potentiometer can be adjusted in modern VSTi's to suit, but when putting them into arrangers, it is usually far less customizable. I have several pedals, depending on need. Roland EV5 and EV7, a Yamaha FC7 and a Behringer (mind you, haven't seen that in a while, it might have got relegated to the garage!). Pedals are a bit like keybeds... certain ones are best for one sort of thing, others for something else...
