we all know about the lamented G1000 chord sequencer.

I'm unfamiliar with it but the sd5 riff feature would be
great if it could allow progressions to be programmed,
or at least offer a choice of several popular progressions
that would fit numerous tunes. but was g1000 better?

One I love on my Korg i-series that I can't understand why
isn't on more kb's: there is one button that mutes all
tracks except bass, drums, and percussion. It's just great
when you play live, especially for jazz--just to be able
to pop in and out of full arranger mode. priceless! some
kb's have a button that cuts from full arr to drums only..
useful but you have to switch to pumping lh bass
mid-tune where the arr. bass was playing...not smooth.

also, it has a section just for 15 favorite sounds..one click
and you are there, click again and you are at another..
and since it has the 2nd sound on each of the 15, an
additional click brings you 15 more--
a lot better than having to go into menus to search sounds or have to go into complete user arrangement
banks. I understand ketron's one-touch buttons do
this but i'm not sure it's as fast. the one-touch buttons
on Yam and Roland are beginner features wasted on
pro players imo.

I loved the Roland feature that lets you opt to lock the
tempo moving from one style to another but if you stop
and start a new style it goes to the programmed tempo.

I would like to see the program buttons be all very hip
drum figures..rolls, etc..and either with a separate volume
control or at least calibrated to match the acccomp level.
i have little use or desire for other musical "inserts".

what special features do you love or have loved on kb's
that you have owned? and/or, what features would you
like to see included or developed?

G100 you could set the tempo to ritard from one speed to another when you press the rit button. That seems so easy to replicate, I have no idea why other manufacturers do not do that.

Korg PA800 songbook feature. same comment, seems a no brainer that users would love that feature.

hmmm...nobody seems to love speicial features or they
have no interest in taking about them..in that case;

how about and/or describing features you dislike(d) about keyboards you have owned? would be interesting if this
produced more responses, wouldn't it..?

G70... drop from full arranger to drums bass and percussion using D-Beam (or other buttons).

G70... Mark/Jump SMF markers, for on-the-fly rearranging SMFs.

G70... Press and hold almost any function button for a couple of seconds, and the display jumps to the edit page for that function. Brilliant!

G70... Makeup Tools easy control of song and style tracks. On-the-fly changing of dynamics, drum sounds , just about anything.

G70... Link dummy style with SMF, and gain four complete keyboard setups by using OTS. Not just tones, but EVERYTHING, effects MFXs, split points, dynamics, basically four completely different (if you need it) keyboard layouts per SMF.

Kurzweil K2500S w/KDFX... Basically, a tweak-head's dream come true. If you can think it up, it can do it..

And last but, of course, the best arranger feature EVER...

G1000... Chord Sequencer. The most versatile, multi-use, completely ARRANGER only feature that few understood (or ever tried), but once mastered, hard to do without. RIP... (but I AM waiting for the seventh day...!)

On my Pa800 i like: the accordions, the guitars, the woodwinds instruments and some saxs.
About styles:the unplugged, funky&soul and jazz(even if i do not play jazz :P) styles.
I like the EQ functions, the touchscreen response,
I do not like: the pianos(its are not like on RolandXP60 :P),the drums&percution(again, are not at the Roland level) but, we have the sample option for it:i put two drums sets from Roland G800 .
I have to mention that the keyfeel it is not so good...as on Roland XP60 :P...I cannot "sample" it :P.
