According to people experience with studio monitors, what's the best Studio Monitors I can get under $500 the pair?
I'm looking for passive monitors since I "guess" I can get better passive monitors than active, for the price.
(I already have a reasonable Stereo Amp)

Thanks in advance

Luis,
You can get Active powered monitors from Behringer. The "Truths" are 225 watts per side (175watts bass and 50watts tweeter) for $399.00 a pair here in the US. These are the best valued monitors on the market in my opinion.

The best choice/match/price = Yamaha MSP5 (Active!)

Sometimes people buy passive speakers and it turns out they do not match the electronic-characteristics of their amplifier.
In the Netherlands the MSP5 costs only 239 Euro's each !

For the money, and for the sound - I like the Reveal by Tannoy. Passive, attractive and great sounding. I also use passive because I like to mix through my stereo amp to compare the mix with "normal" consumer speakers too. That way the finished product has already been tested on the type of gear that most people have at home .... not studio monitors.
I have the Event 20/20's now, but I want to get the Tannoys as soon as I can sell these.

Hello.

I would agree with George Kaye totally.
The Behringer Truth are so good that they have been compared to the Mackie 824’s which cost 3 times that of the Truth’s.

In controlled environments it has been very difficult to even tell the difference between them.

Regards.
James.
