Dear Group,
In an effort to simplify my gig rig I bought two EV SXa100 speakers. When my X1 (built-in speakers) is operable I get along very well without monitor speakers. However, the X1 is in the repair shop again (as it has been more times than I want to believe or accept). So, now I must take my Yamaha 9000 Pro (no built-in speakers) to the gig. In order to stay "simple" what do you recommend that I rig up for a monitor? I can't turn the mains a bit toward me (some times they are actually in the next room). I have a nice Roland Cube-60 keyboard amp (mono). I also have a very small powered monitor, also mono (like in-your-face personal size). How about if I buy another EV SXa100 to use for a monitor and it could also serve as a back-up for my mains? I'm now running stereo using the main outs of the keyboard directly into the EVs.
Thanks,
DVJ

Galaxy Audio PA5x140 - the loudest little dynamo I've ever seen. It fits on a mic stand, has two channels, global EQ, compression, line out, speaker out. It's so versitile. I use it a hundred ways. You get about 90watts as a stand alone, and 144 with an external speaker load. (8ohms).
All this for under $300 US ! Keep it on the floor of the trunk .... it'll come in handy alot !

How would I route the signals (stero to mains, mono to the monitor)? Come out of the keyboard to a direct box (or boxes) and split off to the monitor? Come out of the aux (A B C D) keyboard outputs? I'm a bit lost here. Or, how about keeping everything MONO and by using a direct box send an out to my monitor amp (1/4) and then via XLR to one of the EVs then daisy chain the other Ev to it? I've got to figure this out by tomorrow evening so I can play my Valentines Day engagement.
Thanks,
DVJ

I'm home all night - give me a call at 215-757-8598 and I'll walk you through it.
Best way is to use the stereo outs of the 9000 into a small mixer. Feed the stereo signal to the EV's, and use a MONO monitor or effects send to feed the monitor.

If no mixer is available, then use the mono out and daisy chain all the speakers. Main into main into monitor.

Thanks for the info. I don't have a mixer and the speakers will be placed where chaining back to the monitor will be a problem. I think my solution will be to use a direct box, run everything mono, XLR to the first EV, then daisy chain to the second EV and go 1/4" from the direct box to the Roland Cube-60. Well, we'll see.
Many Thanks,
DVJ
