Hello everyone,
What exactly is aftertouch?
How is it used?
What does it do?
I never played a KB that had AT.
Can anyone help me?
Thanx a million,
Nobby

HI: Nobby
Aftertouch will change the sound of the
voice (such as trumpet) just by pressing
the key harder.
Hope this helps

Hi Nobby,
afertouch is just another controller (like the modulation wheel) which can be applied to a sound to modify it. For example, pressing a key harder after hitting hit you can make a sound become louder, to emulate the way a trumpet sounds; or you can increase the amount of vibrato applied to a sound. Most keyboards let you program the aftertouch, its amount and the specific parameter controlled.
There is much more to say about it, and maybe you should read a keyboard's manual.

Hi Nobby...

there is some more about aftertouch...

we decide channel aftertouch, which means you have only one aftertouch switch for the whole keyboard. For this, below all the keys there is one long resistor ribbon. If you press one key harder, the resistor is lowered and the aftertouch is switch on, controlling e.g. the pitch of a blues harp sound. But you are not able to control each note you're playing individually, if one key is pressed harder, the whole chord is changing (eg. volume, pitch bend, modulation, brightness and so on, depends on the midi controller you've assigend to the aftertouch function).

If you have a polyphon aftertouch (much higher in price) you can control each key individually. And this is much more complex to play...
are you able to play a five finger chord, where you press the thumb and the middle finger harder?

Greetings

Hello Friends,
This is the question that has been ask by a friend on the PK forum.
Is it possable on a PSR9000 to control the pitch bend with the aftertouch?
If so how do you go about it?

Hey guys there's still some activity on the old PK forum. Come by and answer some of the questions once in a while. Won't hurt you
The Synth Zone will always be my favorite forum. But I still like the old PK forum! I still remember when it bus-----y!!

Hi Nobby,
the pitch bend control is one of the favorite routings of the aftertouch. I don't know exactly about the 9000, but there should be a menu where you can assign the aftertouch to different parameters (like the pitch bend), to mimick the sound of instruments like the guitar.
Best regards
Andrea

HI: Nobby
I don't think you can assign other parameters
such as (pitch bend) to the aftertouch, on
the PSR9000 or the 9000 PRO.
Somebody PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, &
let us know how to do it.
Thank You
Enjoying the 9000 PRO
