it seems to be that we will never now when alsa will be compatible for the sw1000xg!

one fact is:yamaha has to give out the soundcards architecture details to the developers for writing driver-software!all we can do is to wait.but you can do something more:

write an email to the following adress:

support@yamaha.com

with an asking for linux drivers!

if they get more and more mails they might notice this problem,so it is up to you&all the xg-users if we get drivers&software in the future.

carry on,make it at least for this tiny little penguin

If there were Linux drivers, what software would you use?
Cakewalk, cubase, xgworks, soundforge, logic, gigasampler, reason, samplitude, Vegas, Sonar, t-racks, etc., and all plug-ins, etc. are NOT Linux compatible.

What good is a driver if there is no software to use?

Oh, I see, That makes alot of sense....
But, there are drivers for other cards...
What we really need is BE OS drivers...
Check this out: http://www.be.com/products/freebeos/beosdatasheet.html
