Hi all.

All things must pass they say, and sadly my internet provider and webhost desided to close down the free service where "The Bob's Technics KN5000 "How To" Pages" are hosted at 31th October 2015.
The reason for closedown are that private homepages now are more Facebook related, and that they now offer to store files in a "Sky" service instead.

Very sorry about that, also that this come so soon after Bob passed away.
KN users who are interested should download the pages while it's still up and running.

Hi Gunnar,

We all miss Bob and his website has been a brilliant resource for all Technics owners, especially KN5000.

I was in touch with Bob during his illness, we didn't discuss his website then but last August he and I discussed that I would host it if your provider ceased the free service.

Therefore, I'll migrate Bob's pages to a new site over the next few weeks before the hosting runs out. I hope everyone is in agreement with this it would be unfortunate for Bob's work to disappear.

I also have a little more work to do on your own pages (I'll get more chance during the winter) but I can tell you that there is a considerable amount of continuing interest in your site with quite a number of daily downloads, I know it is being appreciated.

Best wishes,

Hi Gunnar,

I've re-hosted about a third of Bob's pages. It will take me a week or two to finish the site, I'll let you know when it is completed.

Hi Mike.

Thank's a lot.
I'll take a look at my older backups to see if I have the complete filestructure of the latest update to zip up and email you.

Sadly there is no option to make a redirect link at the old webadress, they close the "homepage" area totally.

Keep up the good work.

Mike, it is great you are doing that. When you have done that let me know and I will update the link. There is so much good KN5000 documentation there. I also clicked through all the pages at Wayback Machine to make sure they keep an archive of Bob's website there.

Nigel,

That is a great idea! I'll also add a link to Wayback from the site.

There's some editing of the text to do in order to remove obsolete items but I'm staying as close as I can to the original.

Gunar has sent me a zip archive which helps a lot because there are a few items in there that have disappeared and JD is going through some of the sites that are linked in Wayback to retrieve material from them.

Many thanks to you all for the help and support.

Sadly, I'm battling with a hacker trying to destroy my sites this morning. Why people do these things is beyond me. I would much rather produce content than play his little game on a Sunday morning!

Cheers guys,
Mike

Hi Nigel,

Yes but it was a bit of a challenge at the time. I'm sure you've encountered similar nuisances!

I should have the remainder of Bob's Pages finished this weekend, I'll let you know.

Cheers,
Mike
