Hi folks , can anyone advise on a computer program that can be used to slow down mp3's but still keep the music being played at the correct pitch .
I want to learn a certain growl tenor sax solo ..I cannot find the tune in a midifile format ,only as a mp3.

My Notation software cannot convert the mp3 format to sheet music .

The tune in question is that old Johnny and the hurricanes hit

Rocking Goose (duck)

Any experience of using slow down software and the make would be of great interest to me .

If the software is user friendly , it would be a great help for a lot of other tunes ..

Regards ...giovanni

Hi Giovanni

Slowing down audio is possible depending on how far you want to slow it down. (Paid for software has better algorithms then free software) if you want some free software then Audacity will do it for you. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (Use Effect change Tempo)

Hope this helps

Bill

I have used MP3 Key Shifter for several years. It works great.

It easily changes keys as well as tempo.

I'm using the old Winamp 2.80 aplication with its Pacemaker plug-in which let you get control over the tempo, pitch and speed of your mp3. Works fine.

Big thank you to Bill , Bernie and Mordicus ,
Many thanks for your reply and advice .
This forum is certainly a fountain of knowledge !!
I'd heard about this type of software but thia is the first time i have actually tried to use it .
I downloaded a free version of Audacity it is very good in fact I'm impressed !! I'll play around with it for awhile and also try the other makes .
it's certainly user friendly .
I may even buy the full version to get the extra clarity .
But in any case it is very good .

Regards ...Giovanni

Also you can try out Transcribe v8.21.2 current as it will slow a wav, aiff or mp3 files down to around 20% if required. http://www.seventhstring.com/
You can download the demo, for either windows or Macintosh, quite a neat little package, just try it out.
