Good Morning Readers.

A few weeks ago, I bought some 'Budget' 2Mb SD Cards.

I frequently use the 'Lock' slider on the side of my cards, as with two of us using the same machines, it would be easy to make a mistook and overwrite someones saved material.

Imagine my surprise when sliding the tab on one last night, it fell off. Forunately it is stuck on 'lock' and I havn't lost anything, as was able to use two CD Reader/writers in the 'puter and save the material on to a new card.

I just post this as a warning - the make of the card is 'Dane-Elec', and perhaps it would be as well to learn a lesson and only buy better-known brands.

See here ....... 'Dane-Elec' SD Cards

Regards,

John

I don't think this just relates to Dane-Elec cards as this happened to me some months ago and as it was a new Sandisk card (which have a lifetime garauntee), I took it back to the Staples who not only immediately replaced the faulty card but also copied my work from the locked one to another new card, (although I'm not sure how they did this).

Needless to say I was very pleased with their service.

When locked - you can copy info off of an SD Card but not put info into it or delete anything on it...

Thanks for this info Roger,

I didn't know this but will make a note just in case I have another one go the same way.
