Do you know if the newer Indigo DJ, or any other pcmcia card is significantly better than the old Indigo playback card, for midi playback. I bought this several years ago on your advice, and it has very good quality, but I'm always looking for better.

not really, the audio quality of the indigo chips remain state of the art and the newer cards practically only expand functions and flexibility.
