Hi,
I've had an email from a Polish KN6500 owner who has written it in Polish. I've used one of the on-line Translation programs and as far as I can understand, he is asking for the MIDI definition files so that he can connect his KN6500 to his PC.
I think he is saying that he has the files for KN6000 but they don't work fully with his KN6500.

Can anyone help with the definition files or suggest where they may be obtained ? The text of his email is appended below, in case anyone on the Forum can read Polish......

Thanks

This is the best I could do re translation:

**********
Hi Lord, I am a holder of technics kn6500 definitions need to connect the instrument to PC.W obecnech kn6500 moment but I have only def.kn6000 PC does not see all the colors that have KN6500.Prosze for help in this matter.
**************

I think colors means voices, which makes me think he is looking for midi voicing patch numbers for voices of the KN6500. Were voices added to the KN6000 with the KN6500? I did not own either. Patch numbers should be in the KN6500 blue reference guide. Maybe he's looking for the guide, itself.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for that - It's more or less the same translation which I achieved...... As usual, On-Line translations rarely give a true meaning of the text..... I think you're right about the 'colors' referring to the voices.

I've just had a look at the specs. for the two keyboards and they quote the KN6000 having 1008 voices and the KN6500 having 1065 voices, so the KN6500 had an extra 57 voices. I expect that these will be the voices which are undefined in the KN6000 def file.

I've had a look on the internet for the KN6500 'Blue Book' but was unable to find a copy - plenty of User Manuals but no mention of the 'Reference Guide'.

I wonder if any KN6500 owner would be willing to scan the guide - or just the MIDI pages, so that I could send them to our Polish friend ???

Hope you're keeping well Bob and still bashing the Pool Balls smile

Ah - he e-mailed me as well but I couldn't make head nor tail of what he was on about...you two seem to have got rather closer to things so I'll leave it with you Bill.

I ran into this translation problem years ago when I was running the KN5000 web site. It can be a challenging situation.

I found that midi patch numbers were often the same from one Technics model to the next. If we can determine the list of voices that the KN6500 added to the KN6000 list, we may be able to work up a patch number list from that. It would be much better, though, if some thoughtful forum member that has the KN6500 would volunteer the blue reference guide pages.

Still bashing them three or four days a week, Bill. When you are in your mid 80's it's more of a hit or miss sort of thing though.

Hi guys,
Here are the KN6500 reference guide pages you're looking for. You might also be interested in a KN7000 instrument definition file that I've made by myself starting from a KN6000 one a few years ago. Just ask and I'll upload it.

Bye
