I am told that Panasonic will provide a USB SD memory card reader/writer so that you can quickly copy files from your PC to the SD card and then load into the Technics KN7000.

This reader/writer will NOT come standard with the KN7000 in all countries eg in USA and Australia.

Would anyone know the model number of the Panasonic SD memory card reader/writer?
Will it support SD memory up to 512MB? Does it need a separate DC power supply?
Does it come with PC software drivers etc? Any information will be appreciated.

model number is BN-SDCBAE and can be found on their web sites under SD accessories.

it should accomodate all the sizes, and is a passive device using power from the usb connection, and comes with a cd with drivers and a jukebox program.

You only need it if you want to put digital audio on the sd card. The jukebox program can rip audio cds and convert wave and mp3 etc on to the card, and keeps a backup of the audio for checking in and out to the card.

the song manager supplied with the keyboard can transfer technics, midi and pictures to the keyboard ram memory, so the card reader is not really required for that.

Hello:
You are saying : "I am told that Panasonic will provide a USB SD memory card reader/writer so that you can quickly copy files from your PC to the SD card and then load into the Technics KN7000.3

Untill now you can not copy files from the pc to the card reader.
You can transfer a file from the pc to the kn7000 with the program songmanager and only one at a tim.

I hope they are working on a program to copy multiple files or even directories from the Pc to the Sd card in the cardreader or to the Sd card in the Kn7000.

well, you can copy files to the sd card with the reader, the 7000 just will not see them in the screen. This is because the text in the kn7000mn.inf file has not been updated. If you manually update the text with a hex editor in the correct data blocks, it works fine.

Therefore it should be possible to make a program to transfer to the card on the pc, similar to the old ttx file manager, which updates the text, and even gives you the opportunity to rename the 6 character floppy format names to the longer 16 characters the sd card can usefully accomodate.

The problem might be if users try to copy files on the card reader that the 7000 cannot read, the program might need to certify that any technics files are 7000 format, or at least readable by 7000. Midis should be fine, also pictures.
