some of the buttons on my old sd1 are hard to press. they still function but i have to insist...
is there a way to clean/fix individual buttons or do i have to change the whole board? this board is quite expensive here in Israel- 350usd.

Hey!
I think you have to change the switches on the board. Is not hard to do it, I did it to mine, all you have to do is a little work with a soldering gun.
I even used some old switches from old VCR boards...so doesn't really cost me anything.
But check out for the top of the switch,to be the same lenght with originals.I did some work with a file to adjust mines, they were a little bit longer.
I'm sure you can have some help from a local TV repair shop. They can supply new switches too.

I've never tried to take the upper board off... is it very complicated? anything I have to watch out for?
