I've only had my Midijay 2 days and already I've got lots of questions. A.J, my old friend, help!
A. VOICES
1.) IS THERE ANY EASY WAY TO SWITCH FROM 1 VOICE TO ANOTHER, IN THE SAME BANK OR IN DIFFERENT BANKS?
2.) WHY CAN'T I ACTIVATE THE VOICES WHILE SOME MIDI FILES ARE PLAYING?
3.) CAN THE PRESET VOICES BE EDITED AND SAVED? If so, how?
B. VOLUME
1.) How do you save the volume level of the right hand, once you have changed it? Can that volume be save and applied to all voices?
2.) Can you save the volume changes to power up that way?
3.)Can you control the right hand volume with a pedal, like the swell feature on other models?
C. POWER UP
1.) HOW CAN I SAVE THE LEFT HAND MIDI SETTING AT 2, AND ALSO SAVE THE MICROPHONE SETTINGS? THE INSTRUCTIONS DON'T SEEM TO WORK.
Thanks in advance.

A. VOICES
1.) IS THERE ANY EASY WAY TO SWITCH FROM 1 VOICE TO ANOTHER, IN THE SAME BANK OR IN DIFFERENT BANKS?
>>>AJ: For now, you will just have to scroll down the voices and do manual selection.
2.) WHY CAN'T I ACTIVATE THE VOICES WHILE SOME MIDI FILES ARE PLAYING?
>>>AJ:- You can actually use the main/lead voice as you play the midi file. However if the midi file is playing along the same channel as the Midijay, it won't work as some of the channels are shared between the Midi player and live RIGHT voice(s).
3.) CAN THE PRESET VOICES BE EDITED AND SAVED? If so, how?
Yes - Once you have selected the voice, press EDIT and edit the parameters as you like... then press SAVE to save the settings.
B. VOLUME
1.) How do you save the volume level of the right hand, once you have changed it? Can that volume be save and applied to all voices?
>>>AJ:This setting is saved once you press EDIT and change the volume setting within the voice parameter.
2.) Can you save the volume changes to power up that way?
>>>AJ: Yes .... again after you press EDIT and edit the volume change and Save.
3.)Can you control the right hand volume with a pedal, like the swell feature on other models?
>>>AJ: No.
C. POWER UP
1.) HOW CAN I SAVE THE LEFT HAND MIDI SETTING AT 2, AND ALSO SAVE THE MICROPHONE SETTINGS? THE INSTRUCTIONS DON'T SEEM TO WORK.
>>>AJ: When you set up the MIDIJAY just as you want, press EXIT until you are back in the ROOT directory (C: displayed at top-left of screen). Then press SAVE to save Power On Setup.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks A.J. but I need some clarifications. On Question 3 about editing and saving the 64 preset voices, I guess I should have asked if i can switch locations of the preset voices. For Example, can I move Blow Sax to preset location, 1, Trumpet to preset location 2, Put Hawaiin guitar in preset 3,etc., and then save this? This would make voice changing much easier for the voices I use the most. Next clarification, When I go to save the settings, as you described, a warning screen comes up saying "File: Machine.ini is present in this folder. Overwrite?" This sounds ominous and I don't want to screw up anything. Is this just asking me if I want to save the changed power up file? I believe that's what it means, but I want to be sure. This brings me to another question. Is their a factory reset procedure, (in case I do screw up something,) where I can return the midijay to it's original factory settings? Finally, in the manual, at the bottom of page 2, under "In order not to lose data" it advises back up of data. I assume this refers to .wav,.mp3, and ,mid files and not the Midijay operating system. Can I actually wipe out the operating system? And if yes, how do I restore it? Thanks again A.J.. You are indeed a prince of a man.

Bob,
I believe I had sent you a private email response but will equally reply here so others can share too.

See answere within your text below:

On Question 3 about editing and saving the 64 preset voices, I guess I should have asked if i can switch locations of the preset voices. >>>AJ: This can be done if you go to the location you are interested in (EG PIANO) and just edit the voice to be the sax, trumpet or whatever you want. Then save with the new name. This location then holds just the voice in question.
>>>AJ: Yes, this is what it means. Just make sure you are in the root directory ("C:" is displayed on the top-left side of the screen). If you want to ever return to the KETRON settings, do SAVE the original "Machine.ini" file to another folder eg Wave, MP3 or just save to your computer.
This brings me to another question. Is their a factory reset procedure, (in case I do screw up something,) where I can return the midijay to it's original factory settings?
>>>AJ: The midijay reads the files from the root directory of the HARD DISK in order to establish it's settings. It would be safe to copy ALL these files to your PC/Computer, so incase you want to go back to the factory settings, these files can be re-loaded into the machine. There isn't a 'RESET' button per say.
Finally, in the manual, at the bottom of page 2, under "In order not to lose data" it advises back up of data. I assume this refers to .wav,.mp3, and ,mid files and not the Midijay operating system. Can I actually wipe out the operating system? And if yes, how do I restore it?
>>AJ: Yep - this refers to the Wave, MP3, Midi ... etc but also the STYLES.BIN, MIDIJAYOS.BIN and other machine files ... just incas. If for any reason your Hard disk were to be erased, you will need these files to activate the machine and the others to play!!
Thanks again A.J.. You are indeed a prince of a man.
