FYI,

Currently, a lot of effort is required but this will be simplified in new OS. You will have to have in mind the tempo of both the loop you want to create and the style you want to associate it with. If you are off by a few beats, this can later be adjusted when editing the sample. The wave-sync feature (when used with a style) works for slight variations in tempo (+/- 20), but when used with a midifile, they are perfectly in sync for the whole range.
Also remember to use 'SYNC' and when in Pattern Edit, turn 'WAVE SYNC ON' to the part of the arranger you want to associate the file(s) with. It would be wise to follow the following steps:

* Find the pattern you want to sync the wave file to.
* Go to Pattern EDIT, WAVE-SYNC and turn on all parts you want to associate the wave file with. This also inturn 'holds' this patterns tempo in memory to which the SD1 will automatically associate the sample when you start sampling (unless you state otherwies).
* Now go to the SAMPLER and create your sample. Change mode from PITCH -> SYNC. It would be wise at this point to adjust the tempo (if it has changed for any reason) to that of the style you initially had in mind.
* When the sample is complete, the SD1 will calculate the number of bars for which this sample (at this tempo) is valid for. For styles like 8beat, 16beat etc, select 4. The tempo value 'might' change per SD1, but you can manually use tempo buttons to correct it.
* Now save sample in SOUND folder. It would be wise to save with same name as STYLE associated with it so that whenever you call up this style, the SD1 will automatically load into FLASH this sample.
* In the SAMPLER, creating a perfect loop will be the challenging part - after that, the SD1 will take care of the rest.

As for use with a midifile, the above is true (minus PATTERN EDIT parts):
* You will have to EDIT the midifile (by loading into SEQUENCER).
* Prior to this though, LOAD the sample into FLASH RAM/SAMPLER.
* Select an un-used track (eg track 12). The default sound will be piano.
* Have the SD1 playback all other tracks but set track 12 to record. During the recording phase, press C3 (or the key where the sample was sampled/assigned to) wherever you want the sample to be played.
* When you're done, change the voice of tack 12 from PIANO to the name of your LOADED sample (you may have to press the RAM/FLASH button to select the sound since you had/have already loaded this into RAM, right?
* Now playback the Midifile.

The sample should be reproduced where you specified. Changing the tempo of the midifile should change the tempo of your sample, but leave the pitch unaltered.

Hope this helps everyone.

Thanks,

AJ

Thanks,

AJ

Hello AJ!
Even with no response, your posts are very valuable to us, I assure you!
I worked a lot lately on synchronization of wav files into midi. It needs some effort, but it can be done. I still didn't succeed to raise the pitch of the sample without altering it's tempo.

Hi AJ.
To me the item is very interesting, because I'll get my new Ketron SD-1 shortly after Christmas. That's the reason why I study any Ketron-stuff I can find.
