http://www2.iicm.edu/korgprog contains a cheap Win95/Win98/WinNT4/DOS shareware program that is usable to create new KORG i-series styles or modify existing KORG style files.

Here is how it works under Windows:
1. create new styles
- click on new style button and empty style is generated
- modify first style's instrument settings with the style properties editor
- enable option generate empty tracks
- convert style file to a set of midi files
(36 midi files are generated)
- use your midi sequencer to modify the empty v11.mid, the notes for the 6 instruments are played at var1
the midi files are small loopable parts
which are automatically transposed according to pressed chord from keyboard
- requires at least one track with notes
- good styles fill each of the 10 buttons with some notes
- complex styles can have up to 36 variations
- save your midi files and close them in the editor
- convert midi file set to style with a click
- if edited more than one track for a button (e.g. v11.mid and v12.mid) then
use chord variation editor of style properties to assign first to some chord types (e.g. Maj) and second to some other chord types (e.g. minor)
- set style tracks keys if the midi track
was intended for other note key than default key (usually C-Maj)
- change style name with properties

The first style is ready, it can be improved
later.
The style file has KORG i3 format, which is compatible to all Korg i-series keyboards.
This is same format as style files from original style disks or style cdroms.
if it can not directly load it from disk then use one of the converters from upper page.
Load (converted) style file from floppy disk into keyboard and create a new arrangement for the style. Test it in arrangement mode.

Forgot important feature... styles can be previewed (played) after midi conversion optimized for your keyboard, can play them through cable to keyboard or with PC soundcard.

2. Modifying styles
works reverse, first (if necessary) convert into KORG i3 style format and then can create the set of midi files with a click,
turn off option "generate empty tracks" to get only the non-empty tracks as midi files.

The free demo version can be used to create simple styles as described above.
