hey everyone..im having alot of trouble figuring out which to get..i only want to spend in the $1000 range and im specifically looking for an 88 key, fully weighted keyboard and ive brought the choices down to these 2; yamaha s80 and the alesis qs8.1. im going to be using these to sample from onto my computer to produce hiphop tracks. can someone help me out with a comparison on these 2, focusing mainly on the different sounds that these 2 both have? including sounds/voices/instruments/bass/drumkits, etc...that would be most helpful! thanks alot,
peace

Sometimes the Polish here have special deals on synths that fell off the back of a truck.

No Waldorf Wave yet, but I've got my eyes open.

I would recommend NOT getting an Alesis. The company is bankrupt and it would be in your best interest to not get on a wagon with a broken axle.

Try out the instruments because the "sound" you are looking for is based on your ears, not anyone elses.

Consider getting a controller like a Fatar and sound modules like Emu Proteus et. al.

Friend of mine bought an Alesis and he likes it just fine, but he's disappointed in some of the sounds and how it is limited. I bought an Oberheim MC3000 controller (when it was available cheap in the U.S.) a sampler and have been very happy that at any point, I can add on very easily.
